Very Interesting Read. September 15, 2008 It was very interesting to read, but some things didn't fit as they should. If you are interested in this genre, then by all means read it. It's always good to have many samples of the same topic. I have found other books slightly better though. It's another way of approaching explanations for things that are hard to understand or believe. I have had things happen to me that are not just coincidences, there are none. That is how I was lead to find, purchase and read this book. The more information the better for our lives and how we live them.
Paranormal Phenomena for the Novice September 12, 2008 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
This book appears to have been written for general readers who have an interest in learning about the paranormal, i.e., ghosts, afterlife, etc. It is not a book aimed at convincing skeptics of the existence of ghosts, nor does it appear to be directed towards well seasoned paranormal buffs (although they too may benefit from some of the material). As a result, the author has presented a sweeping overview of the world of the paranormal, mainly based on his own extensive personal experiences. Topics include: a description of death, the nature and types of ghosts, the afterlife and its various levels of existence, paranormal energy fields, chakras, hauntings, possessions, communicating with ghosts, ghost hunting, etc. All this is peppered with many anecdotes, as experienced by the author. Throughout the book, the author emphasizes the importance of always maintaining a very positive mental attitude towards oneself and towards others - good advice no matter what one's beliefs are. The book is written in a very friendly, accessible and engaging style with a very positive slant. The author has been very careful to ensure that any specialized jargon is explained when first used. As a result, this book can be painlessly enjoyed by general readers who have an interest in this field. However, the book's lack of any hard-core irrefutable scientific evidence for the existence of ghosts may be frowned upon by skeptics, unless they are either very open-minded or curious about current thinking in this area.
ghosts among us September 2, 2008
Brilliant book James, thank you. Easy to read and understand unlike the actual topic. Tracey
Ghosts Among Us September 1, 2008 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
This book is very interesting and is worth reading if you believe in ghosts. James talks about common experiences that all people have right before death and relates them to his beliefs about the spirit world. I want to believe what he writes about, but once you watch his videos on you tube you'll see that he's a complete fake.
interesting. September 1, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I am a bit skeptical about the subject even though I had strong experiences in my life , I think I am more skeptical about the people or the great amount of charlatans there are around the world talking about spirits. I can not denied there is a spiritual life in different forms that we can not see , as we do not see the air we breath every day but does exist. Mr. Van Praagh have a distinct approach about the spiritual subjects and a simple way to communicate his experiences and views to the reader and it seems somewhat honest to me , I like the book mainly because made me rethink about death , about our life and how we live, how the universe around us change and interact with us and is still the big mystery of human kind. To conclude I like the message conveyed in the book and how Mr. Van Praagh touched the lives of other people.
