5 out of 5 stars Vampire LOVER!   September 22, 2006

Awesome romance/vampire/funny book. I read it in a day, recommended to all! Also read the sequel New Moon.

5 out of 5 stars Fun and exciting for all ages.   September 22, 2006

I'm 35, not the audience this book is meant for. Typically i enjoy the classic authors, but Anne Rice gave me a soft spot for Vampires a long time ago. I came across this book strictly by accident. I read it in 15 non-stop hours. I bought the sequel within hours of completing this. I fell in love with Edward Darcy years and years ago, but Edward Cullen is the perfect character, chivalrous, torchered, loving, young, immortal, gorgeous. How do you NOT fall in love with him?

The book is perfect for teens. There is no sex. The only time it comes up the two decide that they will not be having any. No swearing.. no drugs... no alcohol. The main character, Bella, is an excellent student who loves to read and loves her parents.. but trust me, she isn't dull!!

This is a book Stephenie Meyer should be very proud of.... now if we could rush along the rest of the series :) A real pleasure to read.

5 out of 5 stars Absolutely incredible   September 21, 2006

My friend told me about this book. She would not stop going on and on about it, so I decided to read it so I could actually give some feed-back. I am so glad I did. This is an amazing book that (I'm sorry for the cliche) pulls you in and doesn't let you go. Be warned: it is very addicting. I made the mistake of reading it during study hall, and did not get any work done. Even if you don't like vampire books or don't usually read them, I highly recommend this book.

5 out of 5 stars Young love, with a twist--I adored it!   September 21, 2006

When Bella comes to the small town of Forks on the Olympic Peninsula to live with her father at the beginning of TWILIGHT, she immediately remembers why she left: The town is gloomy, rainy, worlds away from the sunshine and freshness of her home in Phoenix. Despite the attention of more than one boy at her new school, she can't imagine anything making her new life in Forks enjoyable--until, that is, she meets Edward Cullen.

Edward is one of five ethereally beautiful students at Forks High School, who all sit together silently in the cafeteria, with full plates of food in front of them that they never touch. Edward's inital reaction to Bella is one of pure revulsion, of emanating hatred--and Bella is heartbroken over his obvious, yet unwarranted, dislike of her. But as it turns out, Edward has a very good reason for wanting to stay away from Bella: She tempts him too much.

But Edward can't stay away, and as he and Bella get closer, Bella discovers some secrets about his family she never thought she'd believe: They're all vampires, but over the centuries they've trained themselves to live amongst humans, to find other sources of food in the animals of the forest. Edward's family is reluctant to accept a human into their midst--but for Edward's sake, they put aside their concerns. And when another clan of vampires with more vampiric eating habits, so to speak, comes into the Cullens' territory and marks Bella as its next meal, the Cullens must race to protect Bella from their own kind.

As soon as I heard about TWILIGHT on Amazon, I knew I had to read it; I just love vampire stories, and this story of a reformed vampire falling in love with a human sounded too intriguing to resist. I'm way past the targeted Young Adult reading audience--but I had to give it a try. And I'm so, so glad I ventured to a different section of the library for this one. TWILIGHT has it all: romance, suspense, action, humor, all wrapped up in a solid plot with relateable, likeable characters.

So no, this isn't your everyday vampire story. Meyer provides subtle, alluring updates to the popular vampire myth, and Bella and Edward's relationship takes on a whole new dimension with its necessary chastity; each touch, each kiss, each glance is heady with danger and desire in equal parts. The setting provides a perfect atmosphere for the story, and the prose is captivating, as lush and magical as Forks' forests.

While the first 200 pages or so of the novel tend to meander, setting up the characters and the plot, the second two-thirds of the novel are explosively exciting and engrossing. I was totally caught up in Bella and Edward's star-crossed love, and I've already reserved my copy of NEW MOON at the library. One thing's for sure: TWILIGHT is an incredible Young Adult novel--but it's definitely not just for Young Adults!

5 out of 5 stars Desperately in love with the Twilight series!   September 16, 2006

I first read a few lines of this book online, here at amazon. *thank you amazon* next few chapters at barnes & noble *thanks for tearing the book from my hands and kicking me out* and now I simply MUST have this series in my collection! I dont normally go looking for vampire books or ESPECIALLY those heated "romance novels" *eck* but No joke, everybody- you will FALL in LOVE with this series!

You can get discriptions of the story all over the place so I wont go into that but I think that readers will relate to the way Bella feels throughout most of the book. Doesnt fit in, and even where she does- she feels unworthy. We all try so hard to be succesful and feel loved but even when it happens, we feel like we havent succeeded or are worthy of something amazing. This book is delightfully written out with anything you could want in a young- read on vampires and romance and action and suspense.. the list goes on. Of course its not perfect but the characters are just so charismatic that you wont mind things that might normally rankle you.

You might not even like some of these reviews you are reading. not convincing? I have never EVER heard a Whisper of complaint excepting that A) they couldnt read it fast enough or B)they read it too fast along with New Moon and now must painfully wait for the final- which is called Eclipse, I believe.

Really- pick up this book somewhere. I swear you will Love it.. to the very .. last .. drop. Cross my heart.

Ps. if you want to dig in now but are still worried about content, the worst you find is in a kiss on the neck so it really is clean while still very entertaining.
