A good, solid handbook May 22, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This is a well concieved tutorial on the basic concepts and tools for starting an online business. Fox keeps it simple, helping the reader to focus on the core elements of the business, and showing how to get all the other administrative stuff done by using cheap or free online services.
Fox walks the entrepreneur through the steps of identifying potential business ideas from everyday activities, hobbies, and experiences. He shows how to identify business ideas unique to the internet, as well as ways to use the Internet to turn non-starters into worldwide opportunities. He then shows how to use the Internet to get the business up and running as quickly and cheaply as possible, taking most (if not all) of the risk out of a new business startup. Ideas for free (or nearly free) site/business promotion are detailed as well.
Fox's ideas aren't new. His tricks are not new. But this book presents the steps for establishing an online business, from soup to nuts, in a simple and easy to understand and follow format. No magic here - just a solid handbook to get the self-starter going.
A great manual for Internet success April 28, 2008 4 out of 6 found this review helpful
Despite the title of this book this is not a hype filled volume of hyperbole disguised as information. Instead this book gives concise useful advice on how to make money online. Scott Fox defines an on-line millionaire as someone who can make a million dollars on the internet. He explains that some will do this in a year some in five years and others in 20 years or more (ie $50,000 per year). With this premise Mr. Fox builds a roadmap for success that any online entrepreneur can follow. I highly recommend this book for anyone serious about making money online.
Great Basic Introduction April 22, 2008 1 out of 3 found this review helpful
This is a good basic introduction to "e-commerce" if you can get past the first 7 chapters which are very repetitive and self-promoting. I particularly do not care for books that give numerous examples of what other people have done with their newly found businesses. I am interested in as much information as possible, as quickly as possible. Skip the stories.
I am learning very quickly that people who write books about making millions are usually making their money selling those books. An internet business requires a lot of knowledge and skills that are not learned in an intro to internet riches. Read the book and expand your knowledge of every topic by reading detailed books and articles about the specifics. There is a lot they are not telling you. You need to know!!
Very Basic, low on resources and how to April 21, 2008 3 out of 6 found this review helpful
It was vague, listed very few resources, and mostly just told stories of other people and their businesses. The writing is fine, but the subject jsut didn't teach me anything new. It even has basic 101 business advice, so if you have never run any biz or are brand new to the internet this is a good starter book, but really I'd look elsewhere. "Plug Your Book" by StevE WEBER WILL TEACH YOU MORE ABOUT internet marketing and places to check out. A new user will still find theirselves wondering wheredo I start at the end of this book. 3g internet marketing is another book much better than this.
No Substance April 17, 2008 4 out of 7 found this review helpful
I did read the whole book and it did have some good tips here and there, but most of the topics were more to 'inspire' you than to teach you something. I am surprised at all the good reviews of this book (at-least so many 5 star ratings). I was hoping this book would have had useful tips for Search Engine Optimization; the entire book just seemed to lack something.
