Fun and Thought Provoking March 24, 2008 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
The Last Single Woman in America was a terrific read! While I am happily married, it was great fun to read about Cindy Guidry's adventures (and disasters)in dating and life. Plus, her stories brought back memories!
Unlike some recent authors, who try to pass off their fiction as memoir, Guidry admits from the onset that some of the book is fiction and I appreciate that. The upshot is that her thoughts are real and the book is entertaining, touching and, at times, thought provoking.
Sit back and prepare to enjoy the ride provided by Cindy Guidry.

engagingly candid March 11, 2008 I was pleasantly surprised by the author's candor and ability to put her very personal experiences into words. Her style invites you into her life and keeps you engaged throughout the book.
I'm not surprised I loved it...but my dad too?!? March 7, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This book is hilarious and relatable to women - but to my great surprise, my hyper-critical, rather gruff dad happened to pick up my copy and read it, and he loved it too! (He told me that he thought the author had a real awareness of human nature and appreciated the book's moving, insightful moments.) He's right: the combination of laugh-out-loud humor, honesty and poignancy is what sets this writing apart. Guidry's book isn't just for all us girls who feel we're the last single women in America... I highly recommend this read for everyone.
a fun read, no matter who you are! February 22, 2008 Forget your gender and/or relationship status, everyone will relate to most - if not all - of the stories ... we've all been there in one sense or another. I so enjoyed reading this book, because it's written like a conversation over a cup of coffee ... or a few cocktails ;-) ... straight forward and shot from the hip ... can't wait to read it again!
couldn't put it down!!! February 12, 2008 2 out of 3 found this review helpful
A friend recomended this book and I took it on a flight to Paris. I had planned on sleeping as much as I could and instead I spent the major part of the flight delighting in this book. It's sometimes laugh out loud funny (much to the annoyance of my seatmate). It's often touching (and I was glad it was dark enough to hide an embarassingly damp eye). But more than anything else it was infuriatingly on target about the predicament of the single woman in the weirdly post-modern world. Cindy Guidry's is a refreshing voice in the world of chick lit. I hope to read a lot more from that author in the future.
