5 out of 5 stars VERY USEFUL   January 18, 2008
This book is for the one who is looking for an immadiate reference book for all subjects involved in a car both mechanically and electrically.
It has also got various reference information in mathematics, physics, chemistry, electricity and so on.
I highly reccommend it for those people who are involved in the car systems design and/or implementation.

2 out of 5 stars More for Technicians than Engineers   January 8, 2008

I suppose most automotive engineers will have to purchase a copy of this handbook. But: it's not that good. It reads more like a legal treatise than an engineering book. It's mostly text and schematics with relatively few equations. The book is not mathematically detailed enough to write simulation or optimization computer programs. Therefore it's more appropriate for technicians.

5 out of 5 stars great background information, not a repair manual   January 1, 2008
This book is fantastic at explaining the concepts behind automobiles. Everything from dynamics of handling, material hardness charts, electrical sensors and aerodynamics is covered here. It is a fantastic resource. I find the explanations really clear, but I am a mechanical engineer so people without a technical background may struggle.

It is NOT a repair manual. It will not tell you how to fix your car. Instead, it explains the concepts behind how it works so it is a much more general guide.

4 out of 5 stars a Bible for every tuner   December 25, 2007
definately a Bible for every tuner. not something you would want to read on vacation though.

5 out of 5 stars Not practical for your average person but VERY good for car nerds.   October 27, 2007
If this book were twice the size it'd still be hard to read, they've crammed an encyclopedic amount of information into a very very small book.

It covers so many different systems and theories in a clear easy to understand (if you're a car nerd) way. From suspension systems to electronics it's all here.

I've never had a Bosch book I haven't liked and this keeps up the reputation for being both detailed and fairly easy to understand.

It makes excellent bathroom reading material. As an added bonus when new the vinyl cover smells kind of nice.
