5 out of 5 stars The one to buy   January 25, 2004

As an artist who is good with characters but weak on perspective and mechanical forms, I have looked at a lot of books over the years about how to solve the problems associated with drawing vehicles. This is the best, the clearest, and the most useful. I use it as reference whenever I have to draw cars and sometimes I look at it just for enjoyment.

Wish i could tell you how i like this item but since amazon couldnt get it to me on time i never bought it! I ordered this item in the beginning of December and amazon stated that they could get this to me by december 17th. I paid extra shipping on all of my items so this item would definately get to me before christmas then amazingly amazon e-mailed me and told me they would send THIS ITEM TO ME ON JANUARY 28TH!!!! LITTLE TOO LATE DONT YOU THINK?!?!?
What kills me is that i could have went to barnes and nobles and bought this book for the same price and NOT have had to pay $50 extra for shipping! ARGH!!!
Thanks amazon!
Mike

4 out of 5 stars This book Rocks, I love it!   November 8, 2003

Just recieved my book today and, after completing the first chapter on perspective, I can honestly say that this book is very cool ane useful. I can't wait to work through the other chapters in this book, especially the chapters on shading and reflection.

Not all the advice may be useful, but the book covers the essential fundamentals on perspective that you MUST use when drawing automobiles.

The artwork shown in this book is from various professionals and may frustrate some artists who compare thier work to the pictures shown in the book.

Drawing automobiles is difficult to do well. Takes much practice

Here is my advice on using the book. Take your time, work through the chapters and use only the advice that works for YOU. Your drawings will not look like the ones in the book as everyone has thier own unique style.

4 out of 5 stars Teens love this book   November 1, 2003

I bought this book for a 16 yr old "motorhead" and I was a little worried when I ordered it that it would be too juvenile. It isn't. He said it was "awesome" and thanked me about 3 times (and if you know 16 yr old boys this is high praise). It has a good variety of techniques and subjects (i.e.: shading, color techniques, trucks, interiors, race cars, cartoons) and a little bit on how to pursue this as a career with art design schools and all. That made it even better in my opinion.
If your teen is really into drawing cars and may even think about auto design as a career, this would be a good book to get them started.
