5 out of 5 stars Great Automotive Business Read   January 24, 2008

This isn't for everyone, but for automobile dealers and their used-car sales organizations, it's a "must" read. The book is well-written and relies on examples from dealerships, both big and small, to get it's messages across. "Velocity" could easily make it's way into university business-school classes as well.

Pollak knows what he's talking about. A high-tech entrepreneur and former dealer himself, he points out that the Internet has turned used cars into commodities and put consumers in the catbird's seat when it comes to purchasing a used car or light truck. It's a clear warning to dealers still operating with textbooks from the past.

I enjoyed velocity and while it is written with car dealers in mind, I learned a lot about the car business and how it works. Dale obviously has tremendous experiance in this field and the stories he uses to explain his position are entertaining and educational. The Internet has changed the car business forever and this book shows where it is going from here.
