VIsa 268 Potty May 30, 2008 We purchased this potty to take camping with us. We have three small children and often camp in locations far from the facilities. This proved a good choice for us. We like the fact that the large holding tank, althought we filled the first one up quickly, the kids had a good time flushing. One thing that did help with the flushing is keeping the toilet level. We put ours in the shower house, which we locate on a slope so the water can drain. To level the toilet our I just took an old towel and rolled it up and placed it underneath. If you are looking for a potty, I would spend a little more and definitely get the larger tank. We camped for five days and emptied only three times. One more thing if the flushing or rinsing levers start to stick a little, use a little vasoline, and they'll work just like new. We had a lot of mud and dirt to deal with on this trip.
Modern Toilet Works Wonders!, May 19, 2008 1 out of 5 found this review helpful
This Port'O John, which is basically a traveling toilet, is a mild example of modern American genius at work. Designed by the team at Pzizer, which manufactures toilet piping vents and toilets for wheel bound people, it utilizes a battery to flush the waste and a collector unit that stores it in small plastic bags, easily disposed of along your travel route or at a restaurant garbage trash bin. Can fit inside a 4 door mid-size family vehicle, and comes with "spice" air deodorant and a pack of "rash free" toilet paper. I found it heavy to carry but eventually used an old wheelchair to push it around. Works good.
Visa Portable Toilet May 12, 2008 I use this toilet on a regular basis and find that it will last on relatively full time use for about 4 days. It is relatively odor free to use. We put a few ounces of odorban in the fresh water tank as well as the waste tank. Odorban comes in gallon jugs at Sam's. The waste tank can get rather heavy when full. It is relatively easy to empty with the self storing attachments but as you pour it in the toilet the odor get's stirred up so make sure you turn on the exhaust fan and hold your breath. All and all the Visa toilet does meet my expectations and certainly is better than paying the high prices of the compost toilets I researched.
Tricky dumping April 7, 2008 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
We purchased the Visa 268 for when we camp in areas with inadequate facilities. It was easy to set up and worked as expected. There was a bit of fresh water leakage around the pump. The key is to put enough fresh water into the bowl before using it. Where it got tricky was dumping it. It comes with a pour spout but it became plugged while I was poring it out. The best way is to not use the spout and dump it direct, then when it is almost empty open the flush valve and use a hose to rinse it out. Overall it is a good product.
Cost too much for quality March 28, 2008 I bought this porta potty for plein air painting out in the wilderness, but was disapointed in the structure of "the flimsy seat". Buy it at a lower price, and you won't feel "taken".
