Product Description
When the 1963 Corvette first appeared, it was obvious that the engineers had cut many of the car’s ties to the past?the new Corvette had its own identity. No one can mistake any Corvette produced in 1962 or earlier for a 1963 model. The 1963 through 1967 Corvette Sting Ray (also known as the C2 or "midyear" Corvette) is its own creature in both styling and performance--it is different and progressive. There were major advances to the chassis, suspension, body, interior, and drivetrain. It had been redesigned and refined, with a desire to improve, not just to change. In Chevrolet Corvette: 1963 to 1967, author William Burt uses over 250 color photographs to demonstrate the striking beauty of the Sting Ray ’Vette. Burt covers the available engines, transmissions, suspension, interiors, body styles, colors, and option packages, giving you an all-in-one source for 1963-1967 Corvette information. This invaluable reference guide also includes a special chapter covering scale-model C2 Corvettes. Whether you are restoring a classic Corvette, constructing an accurate scale-model Corvette, or just enjoy these beautiful classic automobiles, Chevrolet Corvette: 1963 to 1967 has all the detailed information you need.

This book gave my husband information regarding his corvette he just received for Christmas and he is able to see the difference between the eras of corvettes in the mid 60's.

5 out of 5 stars Everything You Ever Wanted to Know About these Classics   February 28, 2007

In 1963 Chevrolet did a major redesign of the Corvette to create what's called the C2. The C2, produced in only five years from 1963 to 1967 is a classic Corvette. This was the Sting Ray, and this is the definitive book on the car.

It is a profusely illustrated book that describes the car from every aspect: colors, options, chassis, body, engines, suspension, steering, brakes and a year-by-year sales review that covers not only the cars themselves but each of the major options. Therre is more detail here than you can imagine, such as two views of the dashboard for the 1994 'Vette showing that the red line on the tach was different depending on which engine was installed.

The C2 was indeed a classic. Today any pristine condition C2 with a good set of options will easily bring over $100,000. The C2 story ended in 1968 when the C3 took over. It wasn't significantly different, especially under the skins, but it ended the life of the C2.
