RAVEN RISE is a wonderful addition to the PENDRAGON series. It is just as exciting as the rest and keeps you wanting more. I had a hard time putting it down and there is no way that I will not be purchasing the next one so I can find out what happens next!

RAVEN RISE is about a Traveler named Bobby Pendragon. Now eighteen, his struggle to save Halla is harder than ever, and everything he's ever done has come down to this. He must save Halla from an extremely evil man, Saint Dane, who is trying to merge all of the worlds into one.

Saint Dane is not only trying to mix territories, which is something that Travelers are not supposed to do, but he is also trying to create the perfect group of people who will follow under him. What will he do with the "not perfect" people? He will take care of them.

Saint Dane plans on controlling all of Halla, and he will decide what he thinks is right for the people of the territories. He believes he is doing right by deciding people's destinies for them and not letting them make their own decisions. Pendragon, on the other hand, thinks that people should make the decisions of their lives on their own.

The battle is on in RAVEN RISE. The battle for Halla. The internal battle of Bobby Pendragon. The battle of the people of the territories. And the battle between Saint Dane and Pendragon. This is what it is all coming down to.

5 out of 5 stars Exactly who-or what- is Bobby Pendragon?   July 12, 2008
After discharging his duty as lead Traveler in "The Pilgrims of Rayne", Bobby feels as if he really has saved Halla from the demon Travler Saint Dane by trapping him on the territory of Ibara. Sadly he is mistken. The subplots are, by far, more interesting than the main story in the beginning. The traitorous Nevva Winter tricks Mark into doing something horrible. Allowing Alexander Naymeer to become the new traveler of Second Earth. Also, we get to know more about the Travler from Denduron, Alder and the Traveler Patrick Mac of Third Earth. Both characters truly outshine the counterpart Bobby. Then, after Bobby finally gets off of Ibara the main story starts picking up speed till well, the fight for Halla is over. Or is it really over? Old, forgotten face reappear to determine just that and to answer the question of who is Bobby Pendragon and what being a Travler really means. Most interesting book since "The Reality Bug".

5 out of 5 stars Excellent Addition to the Series   July 10, 2008

The latest addition to the pendragon series exceeded my expectations. I could not put it down. It answered questions and raised new ones. I am a teacher and read books in order to recommend them to my sixth graders. I love the pendragon series. DJ Machale is one of my favorite authors, fantasy with an anchor in reality. The hero is a believable teenager who faces teenage issues along with trying to save halla. I highly recommend this book and series.

4 out of 5 stars Different, but still good.   July 6, 2008
The Pendragon series has come a long way since The Merchant of Death. The series has gotten a lot darker and a lot more mature. The tone of the series has shifted from a mostly lighthearted inter-dimensional romp into a Armageddon-esque tale. This isn't necessarily a bad thing, but it does take some getting used to. This book in particular is a fairly sad tale, but still manages to instill a sense of hope for a happy ending in the upcoming 10th and final book.

(shouts with the gusto of a man who has found himself lost in the wood with only the nagging of a barren old women to hear) NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO... ok it was good... but... but...but... it was supposed to be the end.... the end i tell you... now must wait for time undisclosed... to hear of how victory will be snatched from the jaws of defeat... i have fallowed this seris from its cradle and plan to fallow to its grave... i am not a maniac who dreams of flying with pendragon threw flumes but i wish to here how it all plays out... if Bobby deafeat Saint Dane and wakes up in his bed in stoney book with a hell of a headake and says "wow man what trip"... or if somthing more happens to ensure that this world which has been created in the imagination of millions continues on... in some way... but i also want to hurt sombody was told this was the last and the end... the end is not important it is the journey that matters but... but... but... so close... but yet so far... when i finally know what happends, i will know... but for now i want to give old DJ M. such a kicking...
