Offering an interactive format in audio word as well as written language and visual images October 13, 2008 Any home library strong in field guides probably has more than one bird book; but this is something different, offering an interactive format in audio word as well as written language and visual images. Some seventy unique birds from Western North America are featured, in a book which offers one-touch buttons of digital audios to pair with descriptions of songs, calls and behaviors. Home birders who want to identify by more than pictures will find this an easy, appealing guide with a difference.

excellent October 13, 2008 Good pictures, excellent recordings, calls are in the order of the birds listed in the book, and you can fast-forward through the calls. Besides typical male songs to females, the book contains other types of calls for some birds. I was impressed by the analysis of some calls, for example explaining the other bird calls some birds were mimicking, which is handy for the first-time listener. I bought this for my mother but will probably pick it up for myself for the portability rather than deciphering calls solely on my computer.
i might like the book if it ever arrives October 9, 2008 this book should not be listed as in stock. i purchased it in august and the shipping date keeps being moved back, now it's october. so much for the birthday present it was supposed to be.
Backbirdsong Guide October 2, 2008 I bought this book for my dear sister-in-law who knows every bird and their song. I heard the book reviewed on National Public Radio and knew she would love it. She did! I surprised her and had Amazon mail it to her. XXXOOO
An Amateur's Dream Guide August 12, 2008 This is the bird identification book I, personally, have been waiting for all my life. Easy to use, easy to share with kids to introduce them to the joy of hearing that bird and then seeing it. Easy to share with bird experts, who love filling in whatever is always left out.And a joy to share with anyone in between (like myself and my friends) who just thinks birds are so much fun. Sincerely, S. Phaeton
