Product Description
Mackenzie Allen Philips' youngest daughter, Missy, has been abducted during a family vacation and evidence that she may have been brutally murdered is found in an abandoned shack deep in the Oregon wilderness. Four years later in the midst of his Great Sadness, Mack receives a suspicious note, apparently from God, inviting him back to that shack for a weekend. Against his better judgment he arrives at the shack on a wintry afternoon and walks back into his darkest nightmare. What he finds there will change Mack's world forever. In a world where religion seems to grow increasingly irrelevant "The Shack" wrestles with the timeless question, "Where is God in a world so filled with unspeakable pain?" The answers Mack gets will astound you and perhaps transform you as much as it did him. You'll want everyone you know to read this book!

5 out of 5 stars BEST BOOK I HAVE READ IN A LONG TIME   July 27, 2008
This is the best read in a long time!! I could not put this book down I was literally standing @ my kitchen counter engrossed in the book. I have recommended the Shack to all my friends on my E-Mail list! I just
could not wait to turn the page to see what was going to happen to Mack next. This story was sad thrilling funny (yes funny) & inspirational.
And the ending !! Well you will just have to read the book to figure it out yourself. A MUST READ!!!

2 out of 5 stars Maybe I Wasn't In the Mood...   July 27, 2008
I keep reading all the wonderful reviews for "The Shack," and I keep thinking maybe I wasn't in the right frame of mind when I read it. Technically speaking, I guess it's written well. But I didn't read the fine print enough to know it was a self-help book. So I ended up hating myself for making myself slog through it to the end.

I feel really bad giving this book one star. It's not a bad book if this is the kind of thing you like reading; it just wasn't what I thought it would be. Just make sure you understand it's a book about theology before you buy it.

5 out of 5 stars Inspiring!!   July 26, 2008
The Shack is such an amazing book! His sense of writing is so touching that I felt so empowered after reading his book. Prayercatcher, a book by Kathy Lasseter and Kelly Hostetler is another life changing book that I love! Both are amazing reads!

5 out of 5 stars Rev. Hal Crane   July 26, 2008
A very moving story and a challenge to my belief about God,Jesus and the Holy Spirit which resulted in my greater assurance of the Trinity alive and well in my present experience. I am sharing the book with my family. I only kept wishing that the daughter could have been found and alive. But the ressurection of the saints will come someday and we will celebrate all the family members that have gone to Heaven.

I thought that this was an excellent book. I would recommend it to anyone who would like to see God in a different way.
