5 out of 5 stars Yummy, easy and highly recommended!   September 18, 2008
I had the pleasure of attending a book signing/ cooking class back in the spring when The Perfect Recipe for Losing Weight and Eating Great was released. It has become my "go to" book when I need something simple to whip up quickly, that tastes great. I have not considered this book as a method to lose weight, but instead a way to cook in a healthy manner and satiate my taste buds! I have not been disappointed yet.

Happy cooking!
Marcia

P.S. My 11 year old daughter also appreciates my cooking with Pam. :-)

5 out of 5 stars Wonderful Common Sense Recipes and Meal Plans   September 11, 2008
Pam Anderson has found the key to what works for her and how grateful I am that she has allowed us to benefit from it as well. Typically, there is much angst in my household over menu-planning for the week --what to plan for breakfast, snacks, lunch and dinner that appeals to most children and adults and yet is healthy and relatively frugal. Also, how do typical people work exercise into their hectic days? She offers plenty of simple, tasty, and relatively quick recipes and some great inspiration for how to get moving and stay trim. Get the book! It is worth the cost for the pasta sauce recipes alone!

4 out of 5 stars Great Recipes and a Darn Good Read.   June 13, 2008

Thanks Pam. I agree with you.. Get off the couch everybody! Go work in the garden and grow some of these great ingredients listed in the book. These are recipes that everyone, heavy or not, can benefit from. I like the fact that there were no diets involved, just a change of attitude. We all know these things,we watch the news, read the magazines, listen to Oprah, but Pam really did it herself! Unlike Oprah (no offense anyone) Pam cooks her own food, and motivates herself probably without fancy trainers, or equipment. Much like moi.

5 out of 5 stars Great lifestyle book...   June 5, 2008

This book is superb for people who really want to make a change in their lives and lose weight. I do not agree with the reviewer who said it would not work because of the amount of exercise Pam recommends. The book makes sense and has given me the inspiration to make life changes and I am seeing results. I exercise anyway and do not feel the need to walk 3 times a day because it is unrealistic with work and a young child. But, I do go to the gym 3x per week for 60-70 minutes, do 15 minutes of yoga each morning and walk the dog for 20 minutes in the morning. You do not have to do that much but her point is exercise is paramount to a healthy life. Losing weight and being healthy is more than just cutting calories and starving yourself. It is a lifestyle decision that must include some exercise and a healthy way of viewing food. Something Pam doesn't mention which is highlighted in French Women Dont Get Fatis compensating when you know you may over eat. If you are going out to dinner, eat light at breakfast and lunch so you can allow yourself to indulge. Then immediately back to healthy eating the next day. She has developed a way of life that will work, albeit slowly. After all, you didn't gain 50 pounds in 2 weeks why do you expect to lose it in 2 weeks!

5 out of 5 stars Delicious healthy recipes, quick & easy   June 2, 2008
I have made (and enjoyed) several of the recipes from this book. They are both easy and tasty and only require ingredients that are easily found at my local grocery store. So many books I have looked at include recipes that are to cumbersome for the average person, so this is like a breath of fresh air. I especially like her seared turkey burgers and her morning smoothies (although I have found that my blender can't handle frozen bananas, I need fresh ones!). For me, this is a healthy & doable approach to eating & exercise (and for those who are complaining about 45 minutes of jogging a day, you don't necessarily have to jog - just plain old walking is very good exercise and at least 30 minutes a day is recommended for you anyway!)
