Product Description
Based the eco-conscious mantra Reduce, Reuse, Recycle, The Little Book of Thrifty Fixes serves up fresh ideas for turning the home into a sanctuary of sustainable style.

"Thrift is not just about spending less; it’s also about buying less and, when you do spend, spending wisely and using flair and imagination, rather than money, to get the look," writes author Bridget Bodoano. "The days of the throwaway society are numbered, and it’s becoming harder to ignore the fact that rampant consumerism is unsustainable and that we have to change our habits."

This book is ideal for people looking for style-savvy solutions that have the least impact on the environment--and the wallet. Spending time in each room, author Bridget Bodoano appraises the potential of reclaimed armchairs, assesses the benefits of refinishing old furniture, and suggests salvaging materials that otherwise would end up in landfills. Chapters such as thrifty recycling, thrifty home improvements, and thrifty kitchen + bath redefine the concept of thrifty. Bodoano writes that it means "getting the most for your money, using wit and wisdom, and having fun at the same time." Whether people prefer shabby chic, bohemian, natural or modern style, The Little Book of Thrifty Fixes for the Home encourages them to buy smart and have fun.

Customer Reviews:

5 out of 5 stars A really useful little book!   August 13, 2008
I love it! This little book is absolutely chock-full of practical ideas that have helped us re-do our home without breaking the bank. Our family is definately feeling the pinch right now and this book really helped to show us how to find a bargain and also how we could re-use what we already have. There's even a useful section at the end to highlight how being 'thrifty' can help the environment too. What a fabulous little book!!!
