Editorial Reviews:

Product Description
Even though firefighters have strapped on some type of self-contained breathing apparatus (SCBA) for more than a century, the proud history of fire service always revered the toughest of the "smoke eaters." Intermittent use of SCBA, lack of proper procedures and training, and sometimes even those time-honored fire service traditions resulted in a tragic loss of life. The toughest of these lessons are here for all firefighters to read and learn. Proper use of SCBA and PASS devices, stricter enforcement of procedures, and an unflinching adherence to the rules will benefit firefighters in every department.

5 out of 5 stars Innovative   June 2, 2008
This is an absolute must read for anyone in the fire service. This innovative book covers in detail the necessary precautions firefighters need to be cognizant of while working in an unforgiving environment. There are also numerous training and learning opportunities all throughout this book that would prove vital for any fire department's training program. This book and the contents within are the most basic but often overlooked priciples of firefighting and if the fire service would embrace these concepts the safety of firefighters would be immproved immensely. I tip my hat to the four authors of this book, Mike, Steve, Casey, and Phil for their dedicated work to such a worthy cause. Their thoughts, ideas, and research will be instrumental in the safety of firefighters for many years to come.
