Documentary makers -take note! April 6, 2008 If you are a Canadian who wondered why the Avro Arrow met its mysterious fate and the unknown but equally sad fate of the potential of aerospace/ electronics industry in this country along with it ,this book will give at least a graphic snapshot for you. Some parts of it are rather technical, and I had originally bought it for my dad, a retired electrical engineer because it describes how the technology of transformers developed with the growth of the power grid in Ontario from the period of 1920- 1970.The book however goes on to describe the fascinating outgrowth from power transmission to a vibrant, if short lived, computer industry in Ontario, and the turbulent pull of global markets , international economies and more importantly the first reality check of what it is to be a Canadian itself in Canadian society, and on the world stage, pre and post WW2
