1 out of 5 stars Pointless   April 6, 2005

This book is completely pointless. First off, people with hummers probably can't read very well. Even if they could manage to hold a book right side up, they'd be too arrogant to consult a text for help on how to use their over-priced earth destroying tank. For the hummer owner considering buying this book, I recommend investing in a self-esteem building tape, since the typical hummer owner only bought the crass obnoxious vehicle to compensate for a waning self-esteem.

4 out of 5 stars A good read for the general public   May 23, 2000

This book offers a good amount of information on the world's most serious 4x4. The history is informative, and there is a fair amount of action shots.

I wish that the author/publisher would release a new edition that is a little more timely and up-to-date.

This book is very good for the casual enthusiast, and a must-have for the collector, but lacks some hi-res detail of specifications and some dimensional data needed for a hard-core Hummer fan.

4 out of 5 stars Great book for the Hummer owners & Hummer admirers!!!   July 6, 1999

This is a great Hummer book for people with Hummers and without. I'm 17 years old, and of course do not have a Hummer, but I still love them and this book. This book has a lot of cool pictures and tells you about the history of the Hummer. It gives a lot of cool Hummer facts for people who know and don't know a lot about Hummers. For those who own hummers it gives a lot of tips and ways to drive your vihicle. It tells you exactly what your Hummer can do and what to do if and when you get stuck off road. I definately recomend this book for those who own and don't own Hummers!!! Also if you know of any great books that are cool for people who don't own hummers please e-mail me. Put HUMMER in the subject and if you know of any dealers who will mail me some information please tell me.

5 out of 5 stars Probably the definitive book on HMMWV and Hummers   May 7, 1999

This is by far the best book on the subject regarding both the military and civilian version of AM General's ultimate four-wheel-drive vehicle. It contains the historical development of the Hum-vee from the prototype via Heavy Hummer Variant, A1up to the A2 model and covers most types and applications. The civilian spin-off vehicle is treated in a similarly comprehensive fashion. The photos are good, plentyful and representative. It is my bible on the subject yet it is not a tome but concise and informative!

Whether or not you have a Hummer, this is definitely one of the better Hummer books out there. Great photos, fascinating facts, and safety tips for off-road driving in 96 pages between two covers. I LOVE THIS BOOK-GET IT, OR FACE THE CONSEQUENCES.
