Editorial Reviews:

Product Description
Not your typical boring diet book, this is a tart-tongued, no-holds-barred wakeup call to all women who want to be thin. With such blunt advice as, "Soda is liquid Satan" and "You are a total moron if you think the Atkins Diet will make you thin," it's a rallying cry for all savvy women to start eating healthy and looking radiant. Unlike standard diet books, it actually makes the reader laugh out loud with its truthful, smart-mouthed revelations. Behind all the attitude, however, there's solid guidance. Skinny Bitch espouses a healthful lifestyle that promotes whole grains, fruits, and vegetables, and encourages women to get excited about feeling "clean and pure and energized."

1 out of 5 stars Some tips good, however some very unhealthy ---   July 26, 2008
Eating soy on a daily basis can be damaging to your health. Soy is the Number 2 estrogen-producing food source - it makes your body fatter. All women become estrogen-dominant at some point, and wonder why their health has gone south and why they have gained weight that is impossible to lose. This is simply pure science.

Also, it has been documented that vegans end up with certain vitamin deficiencies. Please do your research and be responsible for your own health. All that glitters isn't gold.

5 out of 5 stars Fantastic!   July 25, 2008

The author is very knowledgable and informative. She has a wonderful frank and humorous writing style that tells it like it is! Just wish I had the willpower to take her advice!

1 out of 5 stars Animal Rights Propaganda, Not A Health Book   July 24, 2008

It's a bait and switch. I thought I was buying a humorous health and nutrition book, but instead it was animal rights advocacy material. I have no problem with the animal rights movement, but the nature of this book should be made clear right from the start, on the front and back covers.

1 out of 5 stars Just another Pro-Vegan tome   July 23, 2008

I bought this book because it seemed like a fun read, described as a sort of irreverant look at dieting. And it was - for the first chapter or so. Then it got down to the real business of the book, which is to push a Vegan lifestyle as the only way to go. That's fine, but I really wish I'd known that before I wasted the money on the book! After it launched into the vegan stuff I just put the book away. A waste of my $$ and time.

5 out of 5 stars This book changed my life   July 23, 2008

When I saw this book at the bookstore I thought that it was just a simple diet book. I had no idea how it would change my life. I read this book all in one sitting it was so engrossing. I never planned to be a vegan, but I am proud to say that I have been one now for a month and I have no plans of stopping. Yes I had to give up many things that I loved, but I feel so much better and healthier.
I could have done with out the vulgar language - that is the only negative about this book.
I tell friends who ask why I went vegan that I read this book and that I only recommend reading it if you are ready for a lifestyle change.
Overall I am thrilled with my lifestyle change. I have finally managed to drop the last 5 pounds that were hanging on from my second pregnancy.
