Editorial Reviews:

Product Description
Host of Top Gear, Jeremy Clarkson has an extensive following proven not only by the viewer figures of his BBC2 show but by the sales of The World According to Clarkson and And Another Thing--a compilation of his Sunday Times columns. This is the only biography of Jeremy Russell on the market. Love him or loathe him, you cannot ignore him! Motoring aficionado, comic writer, TV presenter, engineering buff, journalist, author, and unapologetic bon viveur, Jeremy Clarkson is one of Britain's most controversial personalities, and in this riveting and entertaining biography, frank views and hilariously candid anecdotes appear alongside the life story of the self-confessed Eurosceptic, chain-smoking petrol head. After a stint as a traveling salesman, Clarkson set up his own press agency, and soon found fame and fortune with BBC's Top Gear. Notoriously his in the face with a banana meringue pie the day he received his honorary degree, he has been accused of calling cyclists "muesli freaks" and BMW employees "Nazis." From causing huge disruption, to defending the rights of drivers, to fisticuffs with Piers Morgan, this is the true story of a colorful life lived at breakneck speed.

Customer Reviews:

1 out of 5 stars Don't waste your money on this poorly written biography!   July 14, 2008

The author's 'research' came from news stories and Internet sites, but she seldom cites her sources, leading the reader to believe that she did all of the interviews herself (she didn't, I've read many of those quotes elsewhere). The writing is sloppy with frequent errors, lots of repetition (she refers to young Jeremy as 'truculent' at least a dozen times), few exact dates (she gives only the year of the most important events in Jeremy's life, such as his marriage and the death of his father) and little else.

If you are looking for a behind-the-scenes peek at Top Gear or Jeremy's other shows, look elsewhere. Colleagues such as Andy Wilman and James May are mentioned only once or twice and the only reason that Richard Hammond gets more attention is because of his accident -- the description of which is copied, complete with errors, from news accounts and Wikipedia.

You will learn much more about Jeremy Clarkson by reading his own books and the bios at the Top Gear and BBC websites or on Wikipedia.

Note: the 11 reviews on Amazon UK are all 1 star. If you are unsure as to whether you want to buy this book, take a look at those reviews first.
