Product Description The talents responsible for some of Batman's greatest tales, Frank Miller (BATMAN: THE DARK KNIGHT RETURNS, Sin City) and Jim Lee (BATMAN: HUSH) team up for the first time to bring you Batman and Robin like you've never seen them before in this reinvention of these classic characters. All hell breaks loose at the circus as Bruce Wayne and gal pal Vicki Vale witness a young boy's life shattered before their eyes. Orphaned, Dick Grayson has nowhere to go and no one to turn to -- no one but Bruce Wayne! Expect action, adventure, guest-stars and the unexpected as Miller and Lee deliver the ultimate tales of the Dynamic Duo!

Illiterate garbage for role playing nerds September 19, 2008 1 out of 5 found this review helpful
Want to see Batman as a jack-booted fascist? Fancy the idea of Black Canary as a pr***-teasing tart? Always fantasised about Wonder Woman as an embittered lesbian? Relish the thought of Green Lantern choking on his own blood? Applaud a 12-year-old boy hacking limbs with a pick axe? Don't read novels? Worship Norris/Diesel/Van Damme et al? Prefer your own services to engaging with a female? Jim Lee's pathetic,soft-porn, anatomically incompetent artwork and Frank Miller's mono-syllabic macho-trash scripting are just for you. Enjoy.
DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME/MONEY September 18, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This is the most disappointing, and infuriating at times, comic I have read in YEARS. The only saving grace is Jim Lee's artwork, which is quite good. Not "Batman: Hush" good, but still exemplary (especially his rendering of Vicky Vale - WOW). It's apparent in this work that Frank Miller has completely moved on from Batman creatively, mentally, and emotionally. Because this is NOT a Batman story. It's Sin City with people that dress up like bats. It's angry in a loud, obnoxious way - an absurdly over-the-top swear-fest that repeatedly slaps the reader in the face rather than immersing them in a good story. Instead of creating a compelling character that's enjoyable to read, Miller decided to make Batman a loudmouthed ***hole who laughs in maniacal Joker-style while mowing down cops with the Batmobile. He's not dark or brooding or even scary - he's just annoying. I'm the first to aknowledge Miller's genius in "The Dark Knight Returns", but those days are over. If you want to read an All-Star series that's not just WORTH your time, but DEMANDS it, pick up All-Star Superman by Grant Morrison and Frank Quitely. In fact, maybe someone should mail a copy to Frank.
Terrible. Just terrible. September 13, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I waited and waited for the library to get this for me. Once they finally did, and it was in my hands, it was such a huge let down. As anyone will agree, Lee's artwork is awesome and always will be, but that's where the goodness ends (his Joker is awesome!). The storyline wanders and ultimately goes nowhere. The dialogue is simply horrible. You can't make a "darker" or "edgier" comic when you have to abide by the Comics Code and the only curse word you can use is goddamn. But they try anyhow, and use "goddamn" in every other sentence. The dialogue is something from a 15 y/o Valley Girl, for all characters involved. Which is another problem. Just how many superheroes needed to be pumped into this? Superman makes a useless three page appearance that makes no sense. Two female arch-heroes try to do something, but they only get in the way. It's just a bad story. Stay away from it. Batman and Grayson's interaction repeats itself during each issue and goes nowhere. It was a waste of my life I want back.
Gotham SIn City September 11, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I picked this book up thinking I was going to get a gritter batman akin to the early runs of Tales of the Dark KNight from the early 90s. What I got is a very badly sadist batman that looks and acts like he should be in Sin City. The only saving point in this book is the artwork was great but the rest of this si soooo sooo bad...Batman as a reckless psychotic just doesn't go over as well and the fact that the actual comics are quite often delayed (I just finally saw issue 10 hit the stands after a 3 month wait) doesn't help either. Some of the things that he does is unfathomable...pimp slapping Robin, hooking up with Black Canary etc....just makes you shake your head...the only clver scene in all of this is the yellow rom with Green Lantern!! HAHAHAHA...
If you are a hardcore fan you would like it...otherwise, if you are hungry for more Batman content after The Dark Knight...stay away from this
