From the supplier: Rockwell International CEO Don Beall explains that the sale of the aerospace defense business to Boeing can be seen as the culmination of his plan to de-conglomerate the company. He says the company dropped the space and defense unit, valued at $3.2 billion, because he wants to focus growth on electronics, automation systems and vehicle parts. Beall reveals that the company will use the earnings gotten from the Boeing deal to acquire a number of businesses and develop partnerships and alliances with others to push Rockwell to further growth. The chief executive also plans to expand the international sales of the company, which he hopes will eventually make up 50% of Rockwell's total sales.
