Ask the Man Who Owns One July 24, 2008 the Packard book is an excellent reference work on the history on a year by year basis with a brief historical summary followed by photographs of each of the various model levels and body types built during the particular. As with all Crestline books the photographs are in black and white, and many are original factory or body builder photographs.
I was fortunate enough to buy a new copy when it was first published and recommend it to any automotive historian or Packard admirer
As the old story goes, when the Packard was first being built, a prospective buyer asked James Packard about whether or not the car was any good, Mr. Packard's never to be forgotten reply was: "Ask the Man Who Owns One.."
Dammann and Crestline books put out another classic book. February 7, 1999 12 out of 15 found this review helpful
As with all of the Crestline series, this book has a solid summary of the history of the car. But, those photos, buy it for the photos. In fact, buy all of the crestline care series books for they are all great!
a great summary with fabulous photos August 6, 1998 6 out of 7 found this review helpful
A detailed history of one the best cars made in america and my personal all-time favorite The pictures are almost too good to be true
This is a great source of photographs of rare models! September 18, 1996 7 out of 8 found this review helpful
The book is mainly photographs, many published in other booksand magazines. However, that does not mean that this is a badbook. It is, in fact, the only reasonable way to get photographs of rare and unique models like Hearses, Buses, and custom bodied cars. Each model year has a 1-2 page description of changes and highlights of the model year. For the most part, these are weak. Buy the book for the photographs!
