Most of this current generation only knows about the Japanese powerhouse 'Lean' methods and attributes them to being invented in the 1950's by various Japanese engineers. What you will find in this book are descriptions of many 'Lean' principles applied in Ford's Model T production lines that most popular literature attributes to being developed by Ohno or Shingo (like Heijunka or arranging the machines to match process flow). Sorry guys, 'Lean' is an American invention. We go back much further. If you are interested in industrial history, read "From the American System to Mass Production, 1800-1932" by David Houndshell.
