This Manufacturing Insights update reviews the status of the chemical manufacturing industry for the second quarter of 2005. Table 1 presents an overview of the macroeconomic trends, industry issues, and pain points for the chemical manufacturing industry. The table also includes recent major IT announcements and/or investments across hardware, software, and IT services.
From this point forward, this update will be including industry metrics from Manufacturing Insights' Global Performance Index (GPI). The GPI tracks growth metrics from 200+ publicly traded global firms that influence IT spending in the manufacturing, retail, and wholesale industries.
