Helpful September 6, 2008 The book is very easy to follow and helps to keep a teacher on track with writing in Kindergarten. I just wish it had a list of the beginning words that can be used for easy illustrations.
Very Comprehensive June 10, 2008 11 out of 11 found this review helpful
Wow! This book shows how to teach, REALLY teach, kindergarten students how to write. Too often, kindergartners are left to experiment with writing when what they actually need, and can handle, is ongoing, explicit instruction. The author covers every aspect of teaching writing - phonemic awareness, phonics, handwriting, pencil grasp, staying on topic, conventions, classroom management, struggling students, and fluency. The included writing samples prove that this approach works and teaches kids to write well beyond a kindergarten level. Buy it, implement it, and empower your students!
