Editorial Reviews:

Product Description
Anatomy of Movement presents a dynamic, integrated approach to the study of the physical structures of the musculoskeletal system and their functional relationship to the movements of the human body. In clear and concise text illustrated with more than a thousand graphic drawings, the author guides the reader on a lively tour of the muscles, bones, ligaments and joints of the arms, legs and trunk. The focus throughout the book is on anatomy not for its own sake, but in its functional relationship to the actual movements of the body in dance, exercise, and other physical disciplines. In this newly-revised edition, a majority of the thousand-plus illustrations are new or have been modified by the author from the original edition. The text has also been updated, and the sequencing of the presentation of the musculoskeletal anatomy has been revised in part.

5 out of 5 stars simple, accurate, complete and easy to understand   April 18, 2008
I'm currently studying to be a yoga instructor and this book is an amazing guide to understand body movement. I highly recomend it. Drawings are very accurate and clear. Explanations are shorts and simple. You can read it in any order you want. Most of all I become more aware of what is doing what in my practice and hope with this I will reduce risques of injury and will help to achieve a yoga poses that i'm still not able to do. Great job! Bravo!

5 out of 5 stars Very helpful   April 17, 2008
I'm studying to be a personal trainer and this book was helpful in explaning the planes of movement and the illustrations are very detailed and explaned the location of the muscles used for different movements. One stumbling block I encountered in my studies was abduction and adduction and this book made it so easy to understand. I will refer to this book many times. I have a greater appreciation for the human body and the wonder that is us! This book would be helpful to anyone studying anatomy.

5 out of 5 stars An excellent visual anatomy reference   March 27, 2008
Anatomy of Movement is a reference book consisting mostly of diagrams of the body's muscles, bones and joints, along with brief descriptions of how they work together to create movement. The drawings are easy on the eye and excellent in helping to understand how the joints are put together and how they function. It is especially helpful to see each muscle, bone and joint isolated, allowing you to study and understand them individually in contrast to texts that show them all at once. I would highly recommend this book for personal trainers, fitness instructors, sports conditioners, anatomy students, beginning bodyworkers, and others who are interested in a visual representation of the body's anatomy.

5 out of 5 stars Perfect for studying and understanding movement   October 11, 2007
I needed this book before one of my exams. I am a pilates student at the moment and although I am taking in depth classes it is not always easy to visualize everything. This book really helped me grasp concepts.
I recommend it.

I think Anatomy in general is a hard subject to learn, but so far this book has helped me with what I need to know for Teacher Training in Yoga.
