| Editorial Reviews:
Book Description Updated more precisely for the new breadth-and-depth civil PE exam, the eighth edition of the Civil Engineering Reference Manual is the most comprehensive exam resource available to engineers. Every exam subject is reviewed clearly and completely. Almost 500 example problems reinforce what you've reviewed, and 440 exam-level practice problems give you plenty of experience with problem-solving. The book references the structural and traffic/transportation codes tested on the exam. Hundreds of tables, charts, and other data are included, and indexes for both subjects and data let you retrieve specific information rapidly. This new edition will not only help you prepare successfully for the PE exam but also serve you well as a desk reference when you receive your license. For solutions to the practice problems in this manual, order Practice Problems for the Civil Engineering PE Exam, 8th edition (ISBN 1-888577-67-3). Both these books are part of Professional Publications's Engineering Review Series, used by over 600,000 engineers to pass their licensing exams.

WARNING: DO NOT BUY THIS EDITION August 13, 2008 The PE exam was recently updated to include a Construction Section. This edition does not cover this material. Future editions will. Kaplan's review book has the construction section already.
Take this book with you to the Civil PE Exam March 3, 2008 Do take this book to the civil PE exam. It had the info for all the Qs save one on the Oct '07 exam.
Do not study everything in this book. Use the list of topics available on the NCEES website to organize your study efforts. If you use this book to create your study plan for the exam, you'll won't have had time to study all the topics on the exam by the time it rolls around.
Do not let the practice problems scare you. They are more difficult than the exam Qs. The exam Qs are doable in 6 minutes if you are knowledgeable about the topic. Do find practice problems that are similar to the exam's and practice those to get ready for the exam.
real great February 18, 2008 it contains all what you realy need ,not forget any ,and not overexplain like it is exact what you (as an engineer) should look for .
you need this to pass the PE exam February 17, 2008 take 3 months of your life and spend them working every problem in this book, then you may just pass the PE exam.
good for the exam and an overall good reference book
Great Reference Material February 13, 2008 This CERM is a great resource to have for studying and is very useful for the morning(breadth) session of the PE. I don't think I used it at all for the afternoon session as the industry resources are needed for the afternoon (depth) session. It's a must have.
