The text HIPAA for Medical Office Personnel was written as a teaching tool to train students planning to enter the healthcare field. It is also very useful for general instruction for new employees in the health care field. The federal ruling is broken down to 4 main topics: Privacy, Transactions and Code Sets, Security and Identifiers. The language is easy to understand with complete glossary of HIPAA terms. There are many scenarios throughout the book to help anyone understand how the ruling intersects with real life. The detailed specifics are not included. This is written to educate workers about the specific language and basics in HIPAA law.
