5 out of 5 stars A book about the romance of early farm life.   May 16, 1999

The tools of farming did not change much from the beginning of time until the middle of the Nineteenth Century. Then came the steam engine and the reaper. The farmer was still limited to just a few acres of grain, however, until the thresher was invented. This book covers this history as well as threshing rings, the threshing meal, custom threshing and the advent of the combine.
