Makes sense! August 16, 2008 Cognitive behavioral therapy is the ULTIMATE way to control eating habits! You have to have the mindset before any change in eating can occur! This book helps you to retrain the thought processes that are connected to eating....
Stay with the book... March 25, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Read the book and thought I would take more from it by listening to it. Stopping to write something down - as suggested on the dvd - is not "do-able" while driving of course. The book is good - I haven't tried the workbook, but many say it is nice to have if you don't want to make your own binder to do the exercises in. This is not the "End All" of diet books, but does have some very usable, everyday suggestions.
The author only talks in the introduction, not the entire book, which oddly enough I liked the author's voice much more as compared the the person who was hired to read it. The author just sounds more personable and real.
Excellent Cognitive Therapy March 18, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
As a therapist I know this changing your thinking type book/CD can help me as well as others. Attended a workshop that Dr. Beck present. Excellent!
Fabulous, Fabulous, Fabulous! January 18, 2008 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
This is worth the money! I love the fact that it addresses the psychological issues surrounding overeating, and doesn't give prescriptive advice about what to eat. I already know what I should eat, but talking back to my self-talk that says "oh, go ahead and eat it and start tomorrow" is another story.
You won't be sorry you bought this. I highly recommend the workbook AND CD.
Good advice, and a good, solid plan. November 4, 2007 9 out of 9 found this review helpful
This is the best, most honest advice you'll ever get to help you lose weight. There is no food plan here. She tells you to pick a nutritionally sound diet, as well as a back-up diet, and stick to it. She will help you change your thinking to think more like a thin person with some writing and "thinking" exercises. It's cognitive therapy, and you will learn why you should tolerate some hunger and cravings because craving something usually isn't an emergency, and your next meal is only a short time from now.
