Product Description In this delightfully designed book, K. C. Nicolaou introduces the world's most important molecules and shows in a fascinating way the role certain compounds have to play in our everyday lives in the fields of drugs, aromatics or vitamins. For example, he tells the story of Aspirin, beginning 3,500 years ago in Egypt, through to its first synthesis and various applications with many entertaining facts and details. Printed in full color throughout and with its oversize format, this is a must for every chemist, natural scientist and anyone interested in the sciences.

Current Biological Chemistry May 12, 2008 This book is useful information to anyone interested in the status of Biological Chemistry. The art work is unusually good and the written material informative. For the current price it is a true steal.
Impressed May 9, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
A well produced and well written narrative of a difficult subject to write about. I was impressed with the extensive references and the beautiful renditions of various molecules. Though only someone with a fairly good grasp of chemistry could appreciate many of the finer points, the book does have an appeal because of the way complex material is presented so that it becomes understandable. The physical size of the edition which I got makes it somewhat unwieldy to read in an easy chair! It would grace any coffee table because of the fine quality of the production.
