Love and Hate March 14, 2007 I love this book for it's depth of coverage. I hate this book because it has so many errors, inaccuracies and omissions. On one hand, I feel like a hypocrite trashing this book because I use it so much as a reference. I used the previous version to the point of it falling apart. On the other hand, I have found so many maddening errors and omissions (and I am in a good position to judge these things, I assure you) that I grit my teeth at the lost potential of this book. I expect a few errors with a work of this depth. It's inevitable, because of the staggering amount of material, but many of the inaccuracies are of the lazy sort. One good example is information from one year that is pasted into succeeding years when much of it no longer applies or is inaccurate. On top of that, a good deal of the material used to upgrade the book ifor the new millennia is sketchy and appears as hastily added afterthoughts. Quick-n-dirty.
Whoosh! I smother the flames of my previous remarks by still recommending this book. It's simply too useful in a broad sense to dismiss it completely. I can only hope that Krause will invest the time and energy to set this books problems to rights.
Interesting....but amazingly incomplete January 6, 2005 What information is provided is interesting. But WHERE ARE THE STUDEBAKERS? How could they possibly leave out not just a model, but an entire make of 4x4 trucks?
A good reference book, but somewhat incomplete January 6, 2004 There is plenty of data on basic models, and how they were offered, but not enough consistant detail. That is what is listed for one model is not listed for another. Moreover only American brands are covered.

I use this book as a reference tool for my business at Canadian four wheel drive magazine. I find the book to have a very complete listing of all standard options available to each vehicle going back to 1946. All mesurements and in some cases production totals and prices. Though I have found a few points missed the listings are very complete with each year of vehicle logicly laid out. If you want to know what came on your vehicle stock or one you are interested in this book will give you the information you are looking for. An over all good buy. Albert Vandervelde
