Editorial Reviews:

Product Description
Which British aristocrat left a Ford Corsair near the cliffs of Dover with a blood-stained lead pipe in the boot? Remember what Grace Kelly was driving when she went over the edge in Monaco? This fascinating collection brings together the best, and worst, of a century of automotive Babylonthe true stories of times when cars, celebrities, bad luck (or bad driving) literally collide. From Marc Bolans encounter with a tree in Barnes in his Mini Cooper to Hitlers love of making decisions in his Mercedes, Stars, Cars and Infamy describes all the most celebrated events where cars have taken a starring role. These stories combine tragedy, comedy, and the just plain bizarre, but all make fascinating and entertaining reading.

Customer Reviews:

4 out of 5 stars Fascinating look into the lurid history of the automobile   August 4, 2004
This book is a great conversation starter. Just place it on your coffee table and you'll see. Martin Buckley's prose is at times hilarious and at others droll and scathing. You will not be disappointed by this fantastic book. You MAY however be disappointed by the quality of the book. My wife purchased the book for my birthday (the perfect gift!) and we were slightly confused when we opened it for the first time. My copy arrived with chapter five bound upside down and backwards! Oh well, chalk it up to British quirkiness.
