Product Description
This is the history of the Corvette, from the earliest first-generation solid-axle cars to the latest fifth-generation C5. Leffingwell highlights dream and show cars, racers, Zora Arkus-Duntov prototypes and one-offs, and other Corvettes, such as the Sting Ray. Featured are firsthand accounts by major figures in Corvette development, including Cumberford and Shinoda, as well as an interview with the late Zora Arkus-Duntov. Filled with color photos, as well as rare, archival b&w photos featuring period racing, advertisements and magazine covers.

5 out of 5 stars The best Corvette book ever!   August 10, 2003

This book reads like a novel; its engrossing and fascinating! Great pictures, great story, great writing, great reading. I read a lot of car books - this is well done. It really goes deep into the history of the car, yet is never boring. Highly recommended! This one stays on my bookshelf - I'm looking forward to reading it again another day.

5 out of 5 stars An exceptionally well-written book, with superb photography   December 1, 1998

As the owner of three Corvettes, I know a bit about Corvettes and their history. This book taught me a great deal more about America's sports car. It is exceptionally well-written, and will be interesting to both the Corvette enthusiast and those who only know that Corvettes mean fun. Randy obviously did a great deal of research for this book, and it shows.

What really sets this book apart from the myriad of others written on this subject is David Newhardt's brilliant photography. A contributing editor to several automotive magazines, David's talent for placing Corvettes in front of unusual backgrounds that complement the Corvettes' lines is unequalled.

I highly recommend this book to anyone who has ever had his or her head turned by a Corvette.

This was the best book I have ever read in my entire life of 87 years. I am a female and usually I am not taken seriously when showing my curiosity of the best American sports car ever created- The Chevrolet Corvette. I am a diehard fan of this extrodinary automibile, and, I, myself, have a collection of 30. This book satisfied my hunger for Corvette information without all the unneccesary sh*t. I would like to congratulate the author on the creation of an exemplory book on an extrodinary automobile.
