i did not think it was possible to top something borrowed, after all most sequels are a let down, but emily giffin pulled off an amazing novel. at the beginning of the book i highly disliked darcy and by the end i loved her...be sure to have tissues ready for the ending.

Emily Giffin's bestseller book "Something Blue" in her series that was released in 2005 is worth reading and keeps you guessing and will make you want to read the next book. This book is fiction and is about how making decision can change your life for better or worse.
The storyline people can relate to because what's goes on in the book can be similar to situations that people experience in their own lives. While Emily giffin was writing this book she found out that she was pregnant with twin boys and used this life experience as material to put in her book as the main character Darcy also finding out that she is going to be a mother expecting two twins' boys. In the book the theme of cheating is used and I think that people can relate to this. In life your girlfriend, boyfriend, or someone can cheat on you that you are close to.
The author `s writing style gives us an idea of Darcy's character as being someone who is funny, upbeat, adventurous, and likes to take risks.
Darcy's description of London makes us feel like we are right there with her experiencing the city. In London the food is slightly different than the food you would eat in the United States. A ham and cheese in London, you would ask for a "croquet misters" but in America you just call it a regular ham, and cheese sandwich. The English accent is different in London, and their American dollar is not the same as our here. It doesn't look the same and doesn't have the same value. London is known for its beautiful buildings like the Knightsbridge, marble streets, and shopping at Harrods that is like our Macy's in the United States.
Throughout the book Darcy is comparing her relationship she had with Dex and Marcus. Dex was someone who was caring, would surprise her on her birthday with cinnamon buns and candles, organized, and an all round good guy. Marcus is the total opposite. He is a good-looking guy, messy, doesn't make a lot of money, and has a bad work ethnic.
By the end of the book Darcy learns about her herself. She realizes that if you are not happy in a relationship and the person you are with is not right for you then cheating is not the answer.

First I read Something Borrowed. I almost didn't read this book becasue I wasn't a big fan of Darcy. Boy am I glad I did. I was so happy with the way the book ended. Everything was as it was meant to be. Very good book!
Excellent Creativity October 18, 2008
Emily Giffin is completely creative in her writing of this book, along with the other books in this series. After reading "Something Borrowed" and loving it, I was thrilled to start this second book. I was discouraged at the start because the book begins as essentially the same story as the previous book, just told from a different point of view. However, this was such a unique twist that it really gave the story an edge. After hearing the other side of the story told in the first book, the plot thickens and takes many unexpected turns. In "Something Borrowed" I really felt for the narrator and was appalled at the horrible things Darcy did. But in this second book, with Darcy as the narrator, you see the other side and begin to feel for Darcy. This book is a perfect example of how hearing both side of a story can make a world of a difference.
Giffin has a unique way of introducing new characters. The relationships between the characters and the way their personalities are described make you feel as if you are reading about some of your closest friends. The characters face real struggles and often find themselves in the strangest of situations. The best thing about them is that they are so relatable. Throughout all of Giffin's books, the characters evovle, disappear and come back into play in numerous and exciting ways. This always keeps things interesting and makes you want to continue reading.
Giffin's carefree writing style makes this book an easy read. The details and quirky characters pull you in and make you want more. This book, along with the others in the series make for great summer, beach reads. I would completely recommend reading her other books as well. If you love these characters then read on to see what happens. My one piece of advice is that with these books I think it is best to always expect the unexpected.
 Something okay... but not fantastic September 30, 2008
After finishing a very wordy classic, I was looking for a fun, light read. This definitely fit the bill, BUT... I kept waiting and waiting for the heroin to actually be likable, and she never was. So while the book was an easy, sometimes enjoyable, non-taxing read - I was ultimately disappointed because the lead character was so annoying. Altogether, a bit of a let down.
