Product Description
Rather like the car it describes, the evergreen "Porsche 911 Story" continues to delight marque enthusiasts of all ages. Describing the full history of this timeless sports car, Paul Frere, grand master of Porsche road testing and writing, brings his classic book right up to date in an eighth edition that includes details of model years 2003, 2004 and 2005, and the major competition successes of the GT3 models.

Gives the story but when did it happen? January 19, 2008 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
I had a hard time finding dates for each change in design. Why not say that the last air cooled porsche was made in 1995 when the body change occurred in 1994? All the book says is with the such and such model came the model such and such transmission. When? Dates are lacking but a good detailed accounting of the changes to Porsche 911.
So detailed! November 25, 2007 On reading this book, it reminded me of the kind of thing that wouldn't seem out of place in a university library. It's so detailed on detail it's great. This is not coffee table decor, but nor is it a mechanic's repair guide; just an intensive description of 911 development from an author that seems very close to the inside workings of the Porsche factory.
Again just another boring 911 book February 11, 2007 3 out of 6 found this review helpful
For those seeking references and technical data on their 911, skip this book. First time opening the book, I have already seen all the data and pics from OLDER Porsche books. There's barely pictures in this book anyhow. For those seeking good history and techincal data for the early Porsche's, get the Brain Long books.
Great book, but for fans only. October 15, 2005 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
If you've ever wanted to know everything there possibly is to know about the Porsche 911, then this book is for you! Others may find it to be monotonous and boring. The book goes into great detail about every aspect of each model year 911. Paul Frere is a 911 expert and it shows! I didn't like that most of the pictures are in black and white, although there is a nice little color photo section in the middle of the book. Die hard fans of the 911 will LOVE it. Others may not.
Awesome December 30, 2003 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
One of the best automotive books ever written. Porsche and non-Porsche owners will love it.
