Product Description Mackenzie Allen Philips' youngest daughter, Missy, has been abducted during a family vacation and evidence that she may have been brutally murdered is found in an abandoned shack deep in the Oregon wilderness. Four years later in the midst of his Great Sadness, Mack receives a suspicious note, apparently from God, inviting him back to that shack for a weekend. Against his better judgment he arrives at the shack on a wintry afternoon and walks back into his darkest nightmare. What he finds there will change Mack's world forever. In a world where religion seems to grow increasingly irrelevant "The Shack" wrestles with the timeless question, "Where is God in a world so filled with unspeakable pain?" The answers Mack gets will astound you and perhaps transform you as much as it did him. You'll want everyone you know to read this book!

Life changing May 14, 2008 This work of fiction is panned by some as "not theologically sound," though I'm not sure to which part they are referring. The God the Father character is a black woman named Papa. Come on -- it's fiction! But there is so much "true truth" (to use a Francis Schaeffer-ism) not only contained in this book but on which the entire book is built, that I find it to be a very healing, refreshing, life-changing work. Jesus spoke in parables, and so does William Young. Come meet with Papa!

Another attempt by desperate Christians to create a God in their own image because the one created six thousand years ago has been put to rest by science. You people need to get a life. Other than that, the book itself is written no better than a high school senior extended short story. If this book gives you comfort, inspiration, or hope, you are indeed in pitiful shape.
The Shack May 14, 2008 I not only enjoyed this book through laughter and tears, it made me analyze how I think of God in my everyday life. Definitely worth a read (or 3 or 4).
Read it-- you'll buy more and share with friends! May 14, 2008 This book is simply endearing. It helps you understand God's great love for you in the midst of a tragedy. The book is insightful and challenging. I feel as though I understand God the Father, Son and Holy Spirit in a way I never did before--especially how they relate to one another. I read it, bought five and sent at once to friends in pain. You will too.
The Shack May 14, 2008 Wow! What an awesome fictional account of how God moves in our world. I have never found such a wonderful and complete description about the Trinity and how they work together for the good of humans. The basis of the story also presents to us how God can heal even the deepest wounds of our souls and bring us into a loving, trust filled relationship with Him. I highly recommend this book to anyone seeking answers regarding their spirituality.
