5 out of 5 stars Great Book for Tween/Teen Girls   May 17, 2008

My 13 y/o granddaughter absolutely loves this book, and the entire series. She can't wait for the next one to come out. The books by Stephanie Meyer have transformed her into our little "readaholic" and we are so proud of her and thrilled that she has found books that she likes to read.

1 out of 5 stars EXTREMELY Disappointed!   May 17, 2008
With Stephanie Meyer's obvious talent, I can't help but think she is capable of better writing than this. This is actually the first negative comment I've ever made on ANY published book. I don't read stories LOOKING for problems with the plot, I read stories to enjoy them. And if something quirky comes up that doesn't quite fit but doesn't cause too much of a problem, I try to ignore it and enjoy the rest of the story. And usually I can do that. For heaven's sake, being a writer myself, I want to give a fellow writer a break. I KNOW personally how hard it is to put a plot together! But in this book, the disjointedness, the typos, and the forced, almost puppetlike behavior of the characters, wouldn't let me suspend my disbelief and enjoy the story. It didn't feel as if the characters were real any more; it didn't feel as if they were doing the acting, it felt as if Meyer was forcing them to behave the way they were so she could shove them to the goals she had created for them. I don't mind if the hero of the story has some flaws, in fact, flaws make a character more real, and more endearing as she/he struggles to overcome them. But any true struggling was absent in this story. There was no honest effort to overcome her flaws. I believe that Meyer intends Bella's maturing to be stretched out over four books, but as a reader I would have liked to see at least SOME growth in Bella, something of an honest effort to become a better person.

I WANT so badly to believe that Breaking Dawn somehow redeems the mess that has been created here, but something tells me that this series is beyond hope. Bella, Edward and Jacob, not to mention all the other characters seem so forced now, that I can't really believe in them any more. I will say that I will give Breaking Dawn a chance, and try to read it with an open mind.

When I finshed the second book in the series, I was bummed and therefore impatient because I thought I would have to wait a long time to get the third installment. However, those feelings quickly flew right out of my mind when after ordering it next day delivery (and I placed that after 2pm mind you) that it showed up on my door step early in the morning. So I highly recommend ordering it here.
The book is a terrific read. It definitely lives up to the anticipation. Stephenie Meyer, is a wonderful author with passion and love that shines through her books. I recommend all her works to everyone I know.

5 out of 5 stars Eclipse Review (Book Talk)   May 15, 2008

Bella Swan is your average high schooler living in Forks, Washington. Except for the fact that she is the girlfriend of a vampire. But after Edward was forced to leave her for her own safety, Bella had to find a way to cope with the empty hole in her left in his place. Her solution came in the form of Jacob Black, a long-time family friend. But when Edward finds his way back into Bella's life, they all face new problems. Victoria, a vampire thirsting for Bella's blood is on the hunt. Bella wants nothing more than to join the Cullen family as a vampire herself. And her best friend Jacob Black has become a werewolf who wants nothing more than to kill Edward. Will the struggle between fire and ice ever cease? Being the third book in the Twilight Saga, Eclipse connects both Twilight and New Moon into a captivating tale of love, hate, wonder and mystery.

4 out of 5 stars Eclipse   May 13, 2008

Great romance Saga for the fantasy book lovers out there.

The book had a great action sequence at the end that made the rest of the book more barable.

Spoilers below, also a warning to those who love Edward.

The "But" to my 4 stars:

How anyone could respect the love triangle in this book astounds me. Reading Bella's personality and "getting to know her", there is no way she could love Jacob romantically. And that is my negative feelings for Jacob aside.

I am a huge fan of Edward and his "clean record." Most scenes with Edward were the reasons I enjoyed this book as much as I did. I had wanted some form of payback for what he did to Bella in book 2, but "kissing Jacob back" while being asaulted by him should be a crime, and was WAY overboard.

Edward is the only reason I will read book 4.
