| Editorial Reviews:
Product Description This beautifully written, heartfelt memoir touched a nerve among both readers and reviewers. Elizabeth Gilbert tells how she made the difficult choice to leave behind all the trappings of modern American success (marriage, house in the country, career) and find, instead, what she truly wanted from life. Setting out for a year to study three different aspects of her nature amid three different cultures, Gilbert explored the art of pleasure in Italy and the art of devotion in India, and then a balance between the two on the Indonesian island of Bali. By turns rapturous and rueful, this wise and funny author (whom Booklist calls Anne Lamotts hip, yoga- practicing, footloose younger sister) is poised to garner yet more adoring fans.

First book I have ever read where I decided to mark the pages for future reference! Funny, insightfull, entertaining, informative, joyous, sad, and would recommend for all women who have faced adversity in their lives. I will be buying additional copies for a few of my friends. Bravo Elizabeth.
Genuine warmth! May 9, 2008 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
I really like this book that I bought an extra edition for my friend in Sweden. The book is refreshing and funny in a very girly way (sex and the city way). The middle part of the book however, her trip to India, is really long and super boring. I almost stopped reading the book at that point but make it through because it picks up again in the third portion when she goes to Bali.
WORST BOOK I EVER READ! May 9, 2008 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
I honestly don't know what all the hype for this book was about. It was the worst book I have ever read. I have read better books as a pre-teen (heck, the Baby-Sitters Club and Goosebumps series are wayy better than this book). It was definitely a waste of my time. In fact, it was so painful to read, I didn't finish the book. I stopped at the beginning of her Indonesia trip. Whoever paid her to do this book deserves pity.
Eat, Pray, Love: One womans search for everything across Italy, India and Indonesia May 8, 2008 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
Excellent story. It is a shame that we all cannot do what the author did, it would make us all better rounded people.
One woman's journey May 8, 2008 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
I loved this book. In the beginning I found it hard to get into but once I got to India it was fablous. My favorite character was Richard. There were so many "points" brought out in this book. The book is about a woman who is trying to find herself after a failed marriage and relationship and the strength and courage she had to pick herself up and go on this self perserving journey. The author did a great job in describing all of the characters and gave you a sense of who they truly were. The ending was a little disappointing but since it is based on a true story you can't change the facts. Would definitely recommend the book
