A Must Read Before Buying Your Next Car (New or Used)! November 6, 2001 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
Although Robert Blazak's "Carbuying 101" did not actually allow me to buy a car with the change in my ashtray, it did save me a significant amount of money and frustration. Blazak walks his readers through the entire car buying process from finding a reliable car to closing the deal at a great price. Based on his experience in the auto industry, Blazak exposes the tricks of the trade used by car dealers to get their customers to sign on the dotted line and to spend more than necessary on all the extras. Readers of "Carbuying 101" will learn: -The best time of the year, week, and day to shop for a car. -What charges are negotiable and what charges are fixed. -How to identify when they are being manipulated by a sales person and how to best respond. -What information to look for on the title and V.I.N. number. -Why many dealers make more from their financing office than from the price of their cars. -And many other strategies for how to maintain control and avoid spending more than necessary. This easy and fun to read book will make an excellent addition to anyone's personal financial library.
Carbuying 101 How to Buy a Car with the change in your ashtr December 1, 2000 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I am so glad that I got this book! It was the best thing I have ever done to prepare myself to buy a car. I followed the instructions per the book and everything that Bob Blazak stated the dealers would do, they tried to do. I saved thousands, by following the guidelines that Bob Blazak laid out. This book is a very easy read, I have already recomended it to several of my friends. I also called Bob Blazak and spoke to him personally and he was very helpful, Thanks Bob!
Best of the Best June 12, 2000 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I bought this book after looking at several of the plethora of books on this subject. If you are looking for a book that tells it like it is with a very succint presentation & a logical flow; is a fast easy & enjoyable read, but you will keep it for reference too, this is it. I kick myself for loaning it out and forgetting to whom I loaned it. I've looked for it on the shelves at local dealers and have been told it's out of print. Amazon still lists it though. If you're looking for the fastest way to level the playing field in the world of car buying, this book is the needle in the haystack. I'm going to buy more than one copy this time.
It saved me tons! January 12, 1999 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Jeez, am I glad I found this book. I felt well armed going into the car dealers. I know I saved a ton of money (aroud $1000, I figure). It's very useful and easy to read. Two thumbs up!
An essential companion in the car-buying process. August 2, 1997 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Until reading Blazak's book, I had no idea how many ways that car dealers could rip you off. It's shocking and sometimes criminal. This book is a wonderful guide to preventing fraud and the simple rip-off. After reading it, I feel confident that I will save money on my next car purchase. It's very well organized, easy to understand and has lots of humor, which makes the whole process much less daunting. It's obvious that Blazak's experience in the auto industry has given him the inside scoop on the tricks of the trade. I'm sure that this book will make many sales people uncomfortable, but I can't imagine trying to buy a car without reading it first! Randy Drake Portland, OR
