Among its many features, the SC-6500A has a 65 Amp Engine Start for emergency starting and a 10/20 Amp Fast Charge mode, which is a self-adjusting, variable charge rate for everyday charging needs and maintaining your battery in peak condition. While the unit charges, it automatically desulfates and restores the battery. There is also a 2 Amp Slow Charge setting for charging and maintaining small batteries such as motorcycle, ATV, snowmobile, and lawn tractor batteries. Safe and Convenient
This unit has 125 amp, sure-grip clamps for top and side-mounted battery posts, an electronic touchpad control, easy-to-select switches for the digital display, battery type or charge/start functions. Choose from 12 volt regular automotive, 12 volt deep-cycle, 12 volt AGM, or gel cell batteries. Meanwhile, a built-in digital voltmeter/tester helps diagnose problems.  Does the job and does it well July 15, 2008
I purchased this to replace a cheap WalMart unit I bought years ago. I have used it on all sorts of batteries including giant diesel engine batteries, and small spiral cell Optima batteries. The jump start function also provides enough juice to get the job done for anything other than a totally dead diesel battery (but even that kicked over after a brief charge).
What can I say, it works well, charges quickly, and looks good. The price on Amazon makes it a great deal.

Unit gets a lot of use on a multitude of different batteries and has performed very well. Can't think of a job this unit couldn't perform. Again, Amazon beats everyone, in information before the sale and service after.
Great Charger March 28, 2008
Great charger that works very quickly. Very impressed with the lcd readouts that gave me an indication of the percent complete and the current voltage level. Charger automatically shut off when complete. Think construction of the product is very good. Overall I highly recommend this charger for its speed and effective charge that really held.

I ordered this item and recived it looking used.So I am wondering will it work when I need it. It also came shiped from Amazon in a box with two boxes of nailgun finish nails that I ordered with almost no packing material.Maybe 3 of those packing ballons.I know help is hard to find,but fire that person. The product looks like a nice unit but I would like to put my own scuffs in it.

This thing works great. A friend had purchased a Black & Decker smart charger which had piqued my interest in getting a smart charger. I found this one from Schumacher which I decided to purchase over the B&D because of brand quality. You can do a lot with this thing and it's small (read the description). You can even jump a small engine. I wouldn't try on a big truck or a diesel in the cold (with this model at least). My biggest complaint is that the cables for the leads get stiff in the cold below -10 F and worry me that they will crack. That may not concern many people though. I've used it to charge car batteries my boat battery and jump start a car.
