Soldering differs from welding because the joint is only covered or layered by a silver/lead alloy called solder. This process uses much lower temperatures and the two pieces retain their original shape while the solder actually creates the connection. Brazing is a similar process to Soldering, but uses heat from an open flame instead of an electrically heated metal tip.
