5 out of 5 stars Can't be beat.   February 27, 2010

For a whopping $10, this is bar-none, the best computer out there. Heck, it even has temp, and backlighting you can see.

Best of all, it actually works, and works well.

Only thing I would do, is make one in black. Schwinn would then put alot of the other lower end computer companies out of business.

5 out of 5 stars Great Bike Computer   February 27, 2010

Don't be put off by the price. It's accurate, reliable and durable. I've had two of the 12-function Schwinn computers for around a year, needed another and this one was a few dollars cheaper ($10). It's almost the same except that the 17-function has temperature, and a couple of other features you probably won't use. They all still work.

As with any of these, the key is to set the tire size correctly and learn how to work the buttons. I simply use the left one to toggle the trip time and distance displays, and to reset the trip, and seldom need to fidget with anything else.

1 out of 5 stars Not well designed   February 25, 2010

I encountered two issues with this speedometer. First, the battery could not set itself correctly. I had to constantly remove the back cover and "jiggle" the battery to get things working. The second complaint is that the sensor would not pick up the signal from the magnet unless it was sufficently close (1/16 of an inch). For all practical purposes, I couldn't use this speedometer.

I subsequently bought a different speedometer for $25 and got everything working in 5 minutes. The sensor did not have any issues picking up the signal from the magnet at the typical distance between the fork and spoke.

The cheap price was not worth the aggravation.

4 out of 5 stars Excellent tool   February 20, 2010

It is a great tool to have. It is awesome that so many functions in a little computer can be bought for such a ridiculous price.
I'm very happy so far with it althought I bought it very recently, therefore reliability and durability are yet to be seen. Again, for the price paid I cannot demand much more.

5 out of 5 stars Not Perfect - But Great Buy   February 15, 2010

You simply can't beat this bike computer for the price.

I was looking at computers in the $200 range, and then decided it couldn't hurt to try this cheapie and see if it works. (Worst case: I'm only out a few bucks, and end up spending $200 anyway in a month or two.)

However, after the install, it has worked well. Without a doubt, it's worth the price... and it makes me wonder what the profit margin is on those other deluxe brands!

It's not terribly intuitive, is difficult to work on the road -- I just keep the scan mode on and hope my eye catches the data I'm looking for -- and has limited display options.

Nevertheless, it works. And it's crazy inexpensive.

If/when this one fails, I would buy a new one.
