The Better Bottle with Big Bite Valve makes it easy to hydrate on the go. | What is BPA? Bisphenol-A is an ingredient used to make polycarbonate. In recent months, there has been increasing consumer demand for a bottle that is not made with Bisphenol-A (BPA), and CamelBak is proud to introduce BPA-free bottles with the same great properties customers have come to expect from polycarbonate: vibrant color, clarity, durability, dishwasher-safe, and with no residual taste. As of the end of April 2008, the entire CamelBak bottle line will be available in BPA-Free materials in North America. What are phthalates? Phthalates (pronounced thal-ates) are a component added to some plastics to make them soft and pliable. None of CamelBak's bottles have ever contained phthalates. What is the BPA-free Better Bottle made from? The CamelBak Better Bottle line is made from a new copolyester polymer called Tritan, made by Eastman. It offers the same great qualities that we have come to expect from polycarbonate bottles and is 100 percent BPA-Free. The Big Bite Valve is made of medical-grade silicone for long life and taste-free performance. About CamelBak CamelBak is the originator and world leader in hands-free hydration systems. The first CamelBak products proved to be very popular among mountain bikers and motocross riders, because it allowed them to drink without taking their hands off of the handlebars in technical terrain. The product began to cross over into other sports when scientific studies showed athletes drank more fluids and performed better when they wore a CamelBak. Since then, athletes from an ever-growing list of sports and activities use CamelBak hydration systems for their convenience and performance benefits. In addition to cycling, CamelBak has Hands-Free Hydration systems for hiking, running, snowboarding and skiing. CamelBak's state-of-the-art packs and hydration systems have benefited athletes, outdoorsmen, and soldiers around the world. While CamelBak has grown tremendously since the early days, one thing hasn't changed: CamelBak still believes in the performance advantage that proper hydration delivers for just about any activity. I LOVE IT November 17, 2008 This is my favorite sports bottle now. I wish them made them to fit into fuel belts. I own three different ones (sizes)
The greatest bottle ever made :) November 13, 2008 I love my Better Bottle, and I recommend it often. My husband and daughter each had to have one too. :) It's a great gift, a great reminder to drink water, and a wonderful environmental choice! It's perfect for the gym, fits in all cup holders, and you can throw it in a bag without worrying about leaks. Dishwasher safe. It's the greatest bottle ever made. I am a huge fan. :)
You will love this item! November 12, 2008 It's spill proof, holds a lot of beverage, and washes easily. I lost my first one and I had to order another, I didn't just go for another cheaper made version, even tho this IS NOT expensive, it's worth every penny.
Fantastic! November 10, 2008 CamelBak BPA-Free Better Water Bottle with Bite Valve This is a great product! It does NOT leak, is easy to carry and use, and lets you drink with the bottle in an upright position without getting any air.I like all the colors it's available in, too, so each family member can have his or her own. The price is nice, as well. Each bottle costs me the equivalent of just 4-5 purchased bottles of water, so I save both my pocketbook and the environment. Carrying this also reminds me to drink enough during the day!
Sturdy bottle, drips from the bite valve if it's not flipped closed. November 9, 2008 I've used this for about a month and it works pretty great. I chose the 0.5 liter, Berry color and it's a nice deep pink/fuchsia. It's sturdy and looks great. I like the little loop on the top which makes it easy to carry around with just a finger. It does drip from the bite valve if it's not in a vertical position. I tested it when I first got it. Filled it with water, bit down and drank some water, then turned it to a horizontal position and small drips of water came out from the bite valve. I turned it upside-down and the drips kept coming. At first I thought maybe the bite valve wasn't properly put on, so I adjusted it, but it still dripped. However, if the valve is flipped closed, it doesn't drip, even if it's laying on its side or upside down. So, this bottle is drip-proof when the bite valve is flipped closed.
Another issue is if you put in cold water, there'll be condensation around the outside of the bottle, and Camelbak doesn't make an insulation tube or bottle bag to fit the 0.5 liter bottles. They only have the ones that fit the 0.75 liter bottles. Also, the straw doesn't quite reach the bottom, and that can be a little annoying when you need to drink and you can't, even though there's about half an inch of water - the end of the straw is half an inch off from the bottom.
Overall, I'd still recommend this item - there are many nice colors to choose from, the design looks great, it is sturdy and drip-proof as long as the valve is in the "close" position.
