Amazon.com Product Description The Malibu outdoor one-light solar-powered tiki torch light provides light to mark entrances, walkways and darkened areas at night. It stays on up to 10 hours and boasts both an impact-resistant globe and plastic construction for long-lasting durability. The sun charges the batteries by day and the torch light turns on automatically at night with no wiring or cost to operate. This two-pack of tiki torch lights feature flickering LED bulbs, and add beauty, security, and safety to your yard. About Malibu Solar Lights and Light Kits Solar lighting is the safest and easiest kind of outdoor lighting to install. It provides sufficient light for entrances, walkways, steps, or to indicate the location of dark obstacles. Each light fixture features a solar collector panel that converts sunlight into electrical energy. This energy is stored in rechargeable batteries used to illuminate the fixture at night. The batteries recharge in direct sunlight and should not have to be replaced for at least three years. Most solar products use LED (Light Emitting Diodes) as a light source because of their low power consumption and long life. LEDs are not replaceable, but their life expectancy typically exceeds 25 years, running 10 hours every night.

realistically beautiful August 20, 2008 I purchased a bunch of these for a hawaiian theme wedding and they are absolutely beautiful. We did a set up of all lights last weekend and I was so much more pleased with these than all the other tons of solar products we used. The light is so cool and realistic looking and creates a wonderful ambiance. Once charged, they stayed lit all throughout the night and into the next day. Which was good because we are out in the boondocks with no other outside light. I never expected these things to be permanent lawn lighting, but they're great when you want that mood. I actually found the poles and stakes to be fine. They didn't seem that cheap or flimsy. In fact, Malibu's version is by far the best compared to other brands. I am purchasing more today because now they are on sale and I can't wait to use them in our yard for entertaining after the wedding.
Malibu Solar Sun Torch not what they used to be August 9, 2008 I purchased 6 Mailbu Sun Torches in 2004 and they were truly excellent. The 2004 models are not what Malibu sells today. The 2004 models were made of a sturdy plastic resin that looked great and they came with steel poles that looked like bamboo with a study metal spike. They were very well made, reliable, and were only $15 each. I still have 4 working in my yard & they still work perfectly after 4 years, having been out in the weather year round in the Houston, TX hot summers.
The lawn service guys broke two by hitting them with mowers, so I went to Home Depot to get tow replacement torches. Guess what, they now sell a "newer model" that looks similar, like its made with real bamboo. The problem is that I have found these new models to be junk, poorly made, flimsy and they don't look as real at night. The main problem is that the plastic they are made of is cheap & I have found that it breaks down very fast in the sun. After only 6 months in my yard, the plastic bamboo stared coming apart and the lights literally fell to pieces. I threw them away after 6 months. Meanwhile, my 4 year old Sun Torches are still going but are beginning to look faded & worn out. I would gladly buy a dozen of the old model if I could find them. I won't waste any more money on the current models because I have found that they fall apart in just a few months. In my opinion, they are No good. Intermatic / Malibu needs to get their act together.
Instant Hawaii August 9, 2008 Aloha - I live in Hawaii and can tell you; These look as close to the real thing as you can get. I use them at my luau.
