My new Pop & Lock Permanent Keyed Tailgate Lock was simple to exchange with the non locking factory tailgate handle. These locks should be made standard equipment for all trucks. When I stopped at the dealership to purchase a Stant Locking Fuel Cap, I mentioned the tailgate lock and wondered about the need for one since I have a tonneau cover. The parts manager told me that just that past week he'd had to replace a tailgate that was stolen from a customer's truck. I thought it must have been a rare incidence but, suprisingly, he said tailgates are very easy to steal and having one stolen was not an uncommon occurrence. Something I had not been aware of. Buying the tailgate lock to avoid having the tailgate stolen along with whatever else might be taken from the truck bed is worth the price. The cost for the replacement, attachment accessories and painting totaled over six hundred dollars. Not having the hassle of dealing with insurance claims, that ultimately affect coverage costs, along with the inconvenience of taking the truck in for service makes the price of the lock well worth buying. ~ The Boss
