1 out of 5 stars did not work for minor scratch   July 8, 2008

I used a fingernail to remove some residue on my car. I do not have sharp nails (nail biter) but still put some surface scratches in the clear coat. (this new car appears to have a thin clear coat compared to other vehicles I had). I was totally shocked that a fingernail caused scratching as I am very careful about such things. I went out and purchased this ScratchX based on reviews. Sorry to say it did not remove much of the scratches. (The scratches are so shallow that I can not even feel it). It did no better than regular polish.

2 out of 5 stars SCRATCH X won't remove bird dropping stains   April 18, 2008

I have a brand new 2008 G37S that already has a bird dropping stain. The stain happened at night and I cleaned the dropping within a few hours. The dropping etched the clear coat, so I tried SCRATCH X to remove it. It might have slightly reduced the stain after two applications. I was seeing some fine scratches where I applied it, so I decided to stop. I can't recommend this product for removing bird dropping stains.

I hate birds.

5 out of 5 stars Deep clean your window glass!   October 27, 2007

This is a miracle product! I have used it for years to remove tar, light scratches and paint staining wierdness. As long as you keep your car waxed at least once every few months, this stuff will usually take all of it out.

Recently I found yet another use for Scratch X, which is removing hard water stains from my car window glass. I live in the desert southwest and between sun, rain, dust, whatever else is in the air, and no time for like 6 months in the summer to clean my car, I managed to get some hard water stains on all the passenger side parts of the window glass that just would NOT come out (I have no idea why is was just the passenger side, sun maybe?).

I tried Rain X, wax, paint thinner (very cautiously), and everything else I could think of, but none of these did much. I tried some Scratch X and a serious amount of elbow grease and it cleaned the stuff right off. The work required was just too much for all my windows, so I bought a power waxer and did all the windows in about 10 hours (over several weeks time). Sounds like a lot of work, and it was, but I didn't see any other alternative other than either living with it (was pretty annoying) or getting all the glass replaced (very expensive).

5 out of 5 stars Does a great job, but needs better instructions   September 17, 2007

I'm quite impressed at how good this product worked. I have a black car and some careless idiot slammed their white car door into mine, leaving a series of marks. I bought some Scratch X because it had gotten mainly good reviews and tried it. The label simply says to rub it on with a terry cloth, let dry, then buff away, if it were only that easy! For Scratch X to work you need to apply it to a soft cloth (I used an old tshirt) and rub AGAINST the scratch until it (the Scratch X, not the actual scratch!) disappears on the area. Apply more Scratch X and keep repeating this step until the scratch is nearly gone (it took me about 5 times). After that, turn the same cloth (in my case a tshirt) over and buff the residue away. I applied quite a bit of pressure to the area and as you could imagine my arm and wrist became quite tired by the time I was finished, but it was indeed worth it. I treated another scratch just behind my side view mirror and while applying more Scratch X to the cloth, I actually lost track as to where the scratch was, so I'm pleased with the overall results.

5 out of 5 stars I love this stuff   January 16, 2007

I use it to keep the clear lexan cover on my squad car light bar maintained. Makes it look like new and seems to provide a lasting protective finish that is superior to other products that I've tried. Works well on those "plastic" headlight covers that tend to haze over. The container tube is good quality and has not cracked and split open like some other brands I've used. They even put a hole in the base of the tube so you can hang it on a nail on the garage wall (or on a chain around your neck, I suppose). I actually have not tried this stuff on paint, but it leaves such an excellent surface on clear plastics, I would expect the same results on paint. I think you'll be pleased.
