| Editorial Reviews:
Product Description E3 has taken the best features from traditional spark plugs, such as cut-back ground electrodes and surface gaps, and combined them to create a new ground electrode design. Surface gap plugs present the flame kernel to the piston (or rotor) more directly, reducing the travel time from the spark to the combustion gases (Although this difference is only measurable in hundred-thousands of a second, at 5000 RPM, they can add up). This avoids the "doughnut" shaped flame front created by standard spark plug electrodes. This is achieved in the E3 design through the open section at the top of the ground electrode. E3 spark plugs combine the benefits of additional sharp electrode edges with a cut-back electrode design used on some racing spark plugs. The increase of available edge-to-edge surface area encourages a more rapid spark discharge while also reducing quenching and shadowing. The three legs that support the special geometry of E3's automotive plug ground electrode aid in heat dissipation for longer electrode life. The center electrode on E3 spark plugs is created from a nickel alloy with a copper center core for both improved conductivity as well as heat dissipation.

Sparked October 9, 2008 I put these plugs in a 2003 Malibu LS and it runs great. Prior it had hesitation and gas mileage was ok, but the E3's have smoothed out the acceleration and I'm not stepping on the pedal to get up to speed. This adds up to improved gas mileage.
I've since purchased another set for my Blazer and waiting for them to arrive so I can put them in.
Improved mileage October 7, 2008 I replaced the original plugs in a car with 100,000 miles. The car does seem to have a bit more power and has better pickup at low rpm with a manual transmission. It clearly gets better mileage than it ever has, estimated at about 5% to 10% improvement which is very worthwhile. They also cost about the same as the OEM replacement, so there is no real downside to these plugs. The package says they will last 100,000 miles, but that is unknown for a while. My 4 cyl. engine was very easy to install, however many 6 cyl. and 8 cyl. engines are very difficult and time consuming to install. If you can do it yourself this is very worthwile, however it may not make sense to have a mechanic replace the plugs unless they are due anyway. These plugs work as advertised and it seems odd that new cars do not come with plugs like these.
E3 in S10 2.2 Liter June 1, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This is a 2000 Chevy S10 2.2 liter auto trans running on E85 that the E3 spark plugs went into. With the old spark plugs, driving 55 mph commuting daily to work 35 miles round trip the S10 was getting 19.7 mpg. With the E3 spark plugs the S10 is getting 21.8 mpg. It feels like there is slightly more power available. For so little money invested in these spark plugs I can't think of anything else you can do to get such big returns in gas savings
More power! More gas mileage? May 16, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I installed these spark plugs along with new wires and a K&N Air filter to try to get better gas milage out of my 99 Silverado with a 4.8 V8. I noticed the truck had more power but gas milage was around 15.5 MPG and now getting 16 MPG. Not as much as I hoped for but if I were to do it over I would still purchased these plugs.
