Good product August 15, 2008 I wanted to get the Black and Decker one as it has an AC cord, but it was sold out here at the time. So I got this one thinking I could use a 12V transformer in my garage, but it didn't have enough amperage. Anyway, no real problems using the car's cigarette outlet. Overall this is a nice product. I like the carrying case which is just big enough to fit everything. For anyone having problems fitting the unit back into the case, just leave out the cord and fold it in last. The green spiral tube is great and affords nice extension. You'll still have to move the unit from one side of the car to the other via the front doors, but not necessarily to each tire. Still, you'll need to read the gauge. The unit isn't too loud. Takes less than 30 seconds to bring a tire back up to prescribed pressure. The gauge overestimates tire pressure by 8 lbs, according to my motorcycle tire gauge. And just FYI for those living in California, it's law that gas stations give free air. Just go to the operator and tell them to turn it on. Of course, if you want to stick in your 50 cents instead that's fine too.
Before purchase, check your car socket amps! August 5, 2008 6 out of 6 found this review helpful
I'm writing this review because the Amazon description doesn't inform you that you NEED 15 amps to power the device as clearly stated in the owner's manual. Unfortunately, I didn't know this before purchase so when I plugged it into my Honda Pilot which only supplies 10 amps, it didn't work. I called Slime customer service who confirmed that all their products require 15 amps.
Check your car owner's manual to make sure your power socket supplies 15 amps!
I'm giving it 5 stars because the device itself looks very high quality with a nice storage case. Slime customer service was also speedy and helpful. Too bad the Amazon item description was inadequate.
GOOD PUMP July 31, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Very quiet. Topped off all four tires quickly. Good quality hose and fittings. Probably the hardest thing is the guage. It goes up to 150 lbs so determining where 35lbs lies on the guage is tricky. I accidentilly inflated one tire to 42 pounds not being able to read the guage accurately.
WOW!!! July 23, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
What a little power house...airs my 17inch tires in a hurry -- my five gallon air tank for my lawn tractor and trailer (always leaking). The flex hose and quick connect is great -- it has the high quality screw on attachment. I am very pleased
Not Enough Info July 9, 2008 1 out of 12 found this review helpful
I am shopping for a pump, but the info here is so poor its pitiful. Lots of nice feedback keeps me interested however. No Product Description section and not enough photos. Are the adapter pieces all plastic or metal? I want one that plugs into 110v or 12v like the Black & Decker Air Station, but more sturdy. Some B&D owners say pieces are plastic and it burns out. The Slime is reported as sturdy with a long hose but I am guessing it only takes 12v. That is a negative.
