Actron ABS BrakeScan Saves Time and Money
The appearance of an ABS light on the dashboard typically signals an expensive trip to the mechanic. Actron arms do-it-yourself mechanics with tools previously only available to professional technicians. BrakeScan helps identify what parts are required to fix ABS-related problems, allowing you to avoid a trip to the mechanic's shop.

Be Smarter When Talking to Your Technician
In the event that you do need to visit your automotive professional, the Actron ABS BrakeScan gives you the information you need before you go. The BrakeScan's robust code library is embedded right in the tool, and you can view necessary information on the large, backlit screen. Being empowered with this wealth of knowledge enables you to visit your auto technician with confidence.

Easy-to-use Features
The Actron ABS BrakeScan connects to the OBD-II port on most domestic vehicles 1996 and newer. It diagnoses the brake control module, ABS pump motor, brake switch, wheel speed sensors, ABS solenoids, vehicle speed sensors and more. The onboard ABS code library is updateable online via a USB connection to your computer. An optional battery backup can be used to save data and power the BrakeScan unit when not attached to an automobile. Help screens are also available for additional assistance.

What's in the Box
The Actron ABS BrakeScan also includes a detachable OBD-II cable, a durable carrying case, and a Quick Start manual.

2 out of 5 stars actron cp 9449 brake scan   July 21, 2008
Brake scan would not work on my 1999 grand prix because it is not suported. Some vehicles it will not scan because they are not on the software, called tech support and no updates available yet, pontiac only has 2 vehicles supported in 1999 year, others have more but note all GM vehicles are. Be careful on what you want it to do!

3 out of 5 stars OBDI?   July 3, 2008
Anyone knows a good scanner for OBDI vehicles in order to diagnose a broad spectrum of issues including the ABS-related problems?

Just recently purchased this unit and it does exactly what they say it does. One thing I don't like about it is that you can't clear the history. This is a big negative! Other than that, it's fine.

5 out of 5 stars Great unit   May 30, 2008

This is my second Actron unit. My regular scan tool wouldn't read the brake ECM. What a great item this is. Pinpoints the problem and saves the guesswork. Gives the code and the Code explanation - "open circuit LF Speed Sensor". Sure enough the lead had broken inside the sensor plug from the harness. Also saves the history with back up 9v battery. Shows Current or history. Pays for itself with first repair. It's a wow. USB for firmware upgrade if needed. Nice case.

scanner works as described, I was surprised it won't clear codes on vehicle after initial scan/repair. My experience on Ford Expedition Abs was rear axle sensor and pump/module codes. After changing sensor, intermittent abs light caused rescan, but each rescan meant removing negative battery wire to clear codes. Seems to me, with onboard scanner reset of abs (clearing codes)would be a win/win. Hopefully, Actron will include this on computer downloads to scanner. Every time you disconnect ground computer rescans ABS upon starting and every start of vehicle does check also so clearing codes does not present a safety issue in my opinion.
